Tutoring review by Maggie in Maple Grove, MN
This is the student's last session before his final. We reviewed using similarity in polygons to solve for angle measures and side lengths. We also quickly practiced some surface area and volume problems. He has to be careful and review his work to make sure the smaller details are accurate.

Tutoring review by N. Kayden in Maple Grove, MN
The student began the session practicing rounding to the ones, tenths, and hundredths. She ended the session working on long division problems involving multi-digit divisors. Her division skills are incredibly advanced. We practiced tricks and shortcuts to easily solve complex division problems.

Tutoring review by William in Maple Grove, MN
We discussed the student's latest test from last week, and he stated that he thought he did better, but that there were still areas where he had questions. He finds that the ambiguity of the questions do not always match his specific knowledge of the topic and thus has to guess too often at the answers. I then helped him on a battery of quizzes from chapters 10 and 11. Lastly we discussed how to specifically create a study guide of answers from the study guide prompts given by the teacher.

Tutoring review by Joshua in Maple Grove, MN
The student and I worked through her homework problems for "u-substitution," and I helped her prepare for a test coming up this Thursday. We were able to finish all of her remaining homework in two hours, and I helped her answer a few questions she had regarding recently learned material (including the fundamental theorem of calculus). Overall, it was a very successful tutoring session, and I am happy to see her progress.

Tutoring review by Paula in Maple Grove, MN
The student had sent me her unit (class handout and notes) on probability. I reviewed it in advance of the session and made notes where she either had incorrect notes/ answers or had left something blank. During the session, I went over it with her and had her finish the incomplete parts, and explained the mistakes where there were any. It was a very productive session - she learned from her errors and has a good understanding of the concepts now. We also worked ahead, finishing the problems she will be doing in class tomorrow (binomial theorem, using combinations to solve coefficients in Pascal's triangle) so she is now well prepared for class. I ended with giving her a more advanced problem using the concepts she already has learned, and she correctly solved it! She's making steady progress, and I can tell she is clearly remembering what I have taught her and applying it well. She continues to have a great attitude and is committed to learning.

Tutoring review by Laura in Maple Grove, MN
The student did a great job as usual. We started out working with division and how it is really repeated subtraction. She caught on quickly. I explained that this is a tool she can use when she does not know the answer to a problem. We then moved onto skip counting, where she needed to figure out the pattern and then skip count. This was just extra practice. Lastly, we worked on reading comprehension, and she had to go back and find the answer in the text. She did a great job, as always. Per family request, I followed up with an email with more reading comprehension resources. We plan to meet again next week.
