The root of the word "education" is the verb "to educe," meaning "to draw out." This is my guiding philosophy as a tutor, that it is my job to draw out of my students the best of their natural potential, creativity, and curiosity. I am a life-long learner. I have three (3) University degrees in a variety of subjects. I have a BA degree from The Florida State University (F.S.U.) in Psychology with a minor in French. I also have a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in Management (F.S.U.) . My third degree is a MA in Counselor Education from The University of Central Florida. I have a love of learning and a love for understanding, encouraging and helping people. I spent over 11 years in the University setting learning about things I am passionate about...working with, helping and understanding what motivates people. I have taught many subjects through a private primary and middle school in Orlando, Florida. These subjects include English, History, Science, Physical Education, wellness, math, art and more. I homeschooled my two children from 5th to 11th grade and I volunteer to teach and support a group of high school girls once a week during the pandemic. I have a passion for learning and a passion for teaching. I feel that all of my experience and education has led me to become a teacher and share all that I have learned and experienced. I have worked as an ESL teacher for the last year and I loved every minute of it. I especially love teaching students struggling with their confidence in any subject. I am an encourager, and I believe that learning should be fun! I also believe that if I can accomplish all that I have done in my life...so can you! I can't wait to meet you in the classroom. Let's have fun learning together.

I am an incredibly dedicated tutor with years of experience and education to help students reach their academic goals. Beginning in high school, I tutored elementary through high school students in mathematics and the sciences. In college, I taught a weekly class to local high school students interested in learning about neuroscience. Since college, I have continued tutoring students on a weekly basis in a wide variety of subjects.I graduated from Middlebury College in 2012 with High Honors in Neuroscience, and now plan to attend medical school. I am a diligent worker and consistently ensure that I am prepared to meet the student's needs. I am exceptionally patient and excellent at developing creative ways for learning when I see a student needs a new approach. Further, from years of experience taking standardized tests (including the SAT and MCAT), AP classes, college courses, and pre-medical prerequisites, I have a thorough understanding of the level of work that is required for success.

I am studying Industrial Systems Engineering as a rising sophomore at The Ohio State University. I have previously taught students who were struggling with math and english in my community and also taught kids about global cultures and societal issues at a summer camp for three years. These experiences have made me grow as a teacher and have taught me that there is nothing more important than hard work and curiosity. If any student possesses both of these qualities, learning becomes an opportunity, not a task. My style of teaching is one that involves a sense of humor and relatability. I have noticed that students respond most to a hands-on, visual, and fun environment. I try to incorporate these three components in the subjects I love teaching most - math and english! In my free time, I love to paint, dance, and write.

I first started studying psychology while attending the University of Groningen in The Netherlands and then finished my degree at the University of Oklahoma in the United States. I love studying the mechanisms behind how humans think and behave and how psychology is fundamentally linked to both the sciences and humanities. Besides psychology, I also focused on classes in professional writing, and I have been editing and tutoring writing since I was studying for my International Baccalaureate degree in high school. I currently live in the UK where I'm doing my Masters in International Education and Development.I tutor Writing and English at all academic levels, as well as Psychology and Social Studies. My favorite topics to tutor are psychology and writing because they are both multidisciplinary subjects and therefore flexible and adaptable to almost any situation. My teaching philosophy is built on what I learned studying psychology: everyone is different and thus, everyone learns differently and has different needs and goals when it comes to education. I try to be a tutor who helps create a unique learning environment to suit the necessities of each individual student. Tutoring sessions are a two-way conversation, and as a tutor, I try to facilitate the concerns of my student and give them the resources and guidance they require to meet their goals.I've been a world traveler since birth and when Im not tutoring, I spend my time writing and editing. My hobbies are reading, painting, swimming and searching for my next adventure. I love learning about new things and meeting new people, as well as getting to share my own stories.

I am a student at the Barrett Honors College, a part of Arizona State University. I expect to earn my Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics with a focus on physics in December 2022. While my degree has had a heavy focus on physical sciences, I have also completed a variety of coursework in social and life sciences to prepare for my post-graduation plans. After graduation, I hope to earn either a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or a Master of Science in Entry to Nursing Practice and begin work as a pediatric nurse. I decided to change my path from mathematics and physics to nursing because I perform best and feel happiest when I am working with others, which is why I am so excited to have the opportunity to be a tutor. I first realized my passion for people-centered work in high school when I volunteered with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation to help educate financial donors and newly diagnosed families on the science of type 1 diabetes. My passion grew throughout my time in college, during which I joined a division of a Rotary club, which matches people of all ages with service projects within their local community, became a teaching assistant for a Socratic-seminar discussion and writing course for freshmen in Barrett Honors College, and worked as a student researcher in a physics lab, where I had to collaborate with my colleagues to address research problems and clearly present my specific field of work to others who were less well versed in the topic. My tutoring style is based on my own educational experience. I draw on tips and tricks that teachers and professors of mine have used which really helped difficult concepts to "click" for me. Most of these techniques associate silly stories or acronyms with concepts, as psychological studies have shown that people are more likely to remember a concept if it is tied to something unusual and memorable. That being said, I believe that every student has their own unique learning style, and so I am always happy to adjust my tutoring style to the needs of a student. Otherwise, I hold tutoring sessions by reviewing a concept and tying it into helpful learning devices, working through practice problems with a student while answering any questions they may have, and then summarizing what was done, answering final questions, and constructing a goals list at the end of a session. I mix homework and test-style problems with fun games like Jeopardy and Kahoot to keep students engaged while preparing them for what they will see in class.I look forward to working with you and helping you to succeed and achieve your full potential as the intelligent and capable learner that you are!

I am a graduate of DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois. I received my Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences with a minor in Digital Cinema. Throughout my college experience, I have tutored in subjects including biology, chemistry, psychology, physics, organic chemistry, and biochemistry. Tutoring is a job that I enjoy because I am a firm advocate of education. When I was growing up, my parents instilled in me the value of knowledge. They often said to me, "Knowledge is something that no one can ever take away from you. It is a gift that only continues to grow as long as you feed it." And so, consequently, I have grown to become a life-long learner. Today, I am pursuing a career as a physician so that I can someday be able to use my knowledge and help others. I will be starting medical school soon, however, in the meantime, I would like to spread knowledge and help students achieve their academic endeavors through tutoring!
