What I love about Salesforce is that it levels the playing field. I came to Salesforce after 15 years in Christian ministry and am so thankful for the resources available to be able to pick up this new career rather quickly. One thing that I picked up in my years in the ministry is the love of teaching, and I believe teaching others the fundamentals of Salesforce is a way that I can "pay it forward" for all I've received from the Salesforce ecosystem.

My tutoring journey began during my junior year of college, which I attended on full academic scholarship, where I worked as a writing consultant in the University's Writing Center and an SAT instructor for Kaplan. For the past 3+ years, I have worked as a private tutor throughout New York City, where I have worked with 30+ students. My students have ranged from elementary school level to college seniors; I have tutored in a multitude of subjects, including ACT/SAT/ISEE/SSAT/Mathematics/Spanish/English/History.When I'm not tutoring or working my desk job, I enjoy traveling, running half marathons, and eating my way through NYC.

I first discovered my love for teaching when I was a Teaching Assistant during college. I love working one-on-one with students in efforts to help them gain a better understanding of the subjects they would like to master. I believe each and every student has unique learning requirements and I strive to meet these needs by modifying my teaching method in order to best benefit my student. I am very patient and I always like to ensure that my student is progressing and excelling with each session. I am currently a medical student so I have a deep compassion for caring for and helping people. This passion also applies to my interest in tutoring.

I am a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology. I received my Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (minor in Computer science). As college students, I was fortunate to tutor a broad range of subjects. However, the subjects I am most passionate about are Mathematics (e.g. Algebra, Calculus, etc.), Algorithms, Data Structure, general chemistry and general biology (e.g. Anatomy & Physiology). Hi I'm Katrina--a recent transplant to LA and also a recent grad of Yale University! Reading and writing have been integral to my life over the past few years as a Film and Media Studies and Sociology double major. I believe that crafting text can be a fun hobby and a very useful skill. Yet, it can often be challenging. I have 2 children, ages 11 and 8. I have volunteered in their classrooms for the past 5 years. I have read children's storybooks to the class and helped the kids with arts and crafts and projects. If there was any class I absolutely feared during the University of Pittsburgh Health Care Scholars Academy (UPHCSA), it was neuroscience. On the day our classes were assigned, I remember clasping my hands together, closing my eyes, praying, anything but neuro, anything but neuro. Little did I know that neurosurgery would become one of the subjects I love to teach.Tutoring gives me a myriad of opportunities to further my own science education. In high school, I took every opportunity to extend my knowledge beyond classroom lectures, from the national Verizon App Challenge to witnessing awe-inspiring open-heart surgeries. With the knowledge and information that I gained, at Upper St. Clair High School, I tutored at the Success Tutor Center, enlightening other students about what I learned as an inquisitive individual.More than a desire for a challenge by attending student's needs and to share my knowledge with others, tutoring fulfills my need for meeting new people, and learning about different types of people in the world.My love of science is only part of me.
