In 1860, physicist Gustav Kirchhoff found out the dark lines are the result of absorption by chemical elements in the solar atmosphere. This proved that the chemical elements in the stars and sun were also present on Earth.

Recent Astrophysics Tutoring Session Notes
Today we continued studying for the assessment test, focusing especially on the grammar and punctuation part of it. She is really rusty on her comma rules and semicolon usage, so we spent a lot of time really making sure those rules were drilled into her head.
We finished her packet over ecology. We went over the predator vs prey relationship. When we finished with that we started on her assessment test review packet for math, got one page done, and started on the next. She is doing very well with both subjects!
Today we covered evolution in chapter 17. We discussed topics he was having trouble with, such as types of selection, and reviewed graphs together. He seemed to have a good understanding of material towards the end of the session.
The student needed help to cover various ecology topics, including adaptive radiation, coevolution, convergent evolution, theories on speciation, genetic drift, mutation, and the definition of evolution as a change in allele frequencies.
The student and I reviewed in advance of a quiz that she has tomorrow. We went through the digestive system and what happens after you eat a meal. We also reviewed the skeletal and muscular systems that we did last week.
Reviewed osmoregulation and the renal system. Discussed hormonal regulation (Aldosterone and ADH) and drew/discussed a diagram of the nephron which I believe was helpful to consolidate all of the information.
