Can AP Spanish Language and Culture tutors help my student prepare for tests?
One of the most important parts of this course is the final exam that’s associated with it. This is because your student will need to pass the exam in order to earn their college credit. The AP Spanish Language and Culture final is administered over a three-hour and three-minute testing period. There are a total of four different sections on this exam that assess different aspects of your student’s Spanish language skill set.
The first test section consists entirely of multiple-choice questions. Your student will answer a total of 30 questions here, which will count for 23% of their final score. They’ll be tasked with reading four different sets of authentic print sources in Spanish. Then, they'll need to answer questions that relate to those print sources.
Next, your student will answer another 35 multiple-choice questions, which will collectively account for 27% of their overall score. However, these questions include audio sources. Your student will listen to a variety of authentic Spanish language audio sources, including interviews, instructions, and conversations. Then, your student will need to show that they understand spoken Spanish by answering questions on what they've just heard.
Third, your student will complete a free-response test section with two questions. The first question will ask your student to complete an interpersonal written assignment where they read and reply to an email message in Spanish. The second question will ask them to complete a presentational written assignment where they write an argumentative essay in Spanish based on three different sources. This section will account for 25% of your student’s overall grade.
