As a tutor, I would like to disseminate this knowledge and teach students the valuable skills needed to independently obtain knowledge, create concepts, and build new ideas on those fundamental concepts. I graduated as a University Scholar and pre-med student from New York University with a major in Psychology and minors in Physics, Molecular and Cell Biology, and Chemistry. Having excelled in Psychology and its research, I am a member of the International Honor Society in Psychology; hence, I am well qualified to teach this subject. Because I am passionate about reading and writing, both creatively and academically, I have excelled in the Critical Reading and Writing sections of the PSAT, SAT, ACT, and MCAT and have often tutored peers facing difficulties in these areas. Although I struggled with Physics in high school, I approached it differently at NYU, was extremely intrigued by it, and decided to pursue a minor in it.This is the same kind of change I would like to bring about in my students through effective communication and personalized learning styles. There is no universal way to study, and understanding how a student learns new a concept is imperative to obtaining success in any field. I have taught young children, high school students, and college students topics like algebra, dance, and health education. Each age group positively responds to a different style of teaching, motivation, and communication; being adaptable and open to these changes is my forte. My teaching style often revolves around developing self-motivation, planning schedules, and understanding students' short-term and long-term goals. Because I recently graduated, I understand the stress students have managing their busy schedules, extracurricular activities, and studying for standardized exams, all while maintaining a solid GPA. Being flexible, compassionate, and patient is very important when teaching and I believe that an amalgamation of these traits, my teaching experience, and subject knowledge make me a well-rounded and effective tutor.

With hard work and dedication, I obtained my bachelor's in elementary education from Howard Payne University, surpassed my own goals, and became a responsible citizen, role model, and teacher to the younger generations.As an elementary teacher, I have been able to help young children develop social skills and positive learning habits in an enthusiastic, stimulating, and positive classroom environment. As an elementary educator, I have fostered the social and intellectual development of students, in hopes that one day, they too will also become a responsible community member.As most do, I grew older, married, and had children of my own. Upon having my son, he developed a medical condition which lead to multiple years in the Dell Children's Hospital, several specialist visits, and even more doctor visits. I have tutored English for Literacy Volunteers, trained bookkeeper and salespeople on the job. I have done some substitute teaching and have taught public speaking and leadership to the Jaycees.Currently I am tutoring ESL, reading and accounting. My favorite of these subjects is English and then reading. I emphasize how one has to have the vocabulary and how to use it. When someone doesn't understand me it is usually because I have not explained myself or because I failed to observe that the other person didn't register my message.I'll be there for you. I am a graduate of the Illinois Institute of Technology, receiving a Bachelors of Architecture with specializations in 'digital design' and 'history and theory'. Since, I have worked with a couple of architecture firms and am currently in the process of taking the architectural registration exams. I have been involved as a tutor since high school, working with middle and high schoolers in math from algebra to calculus, middle school band ensembles, writing skills and reading comprehension, as well as a variety of other subjects on a short-term basis. I was also able to teach in a more significant capacity through Breakthrough Central Texas' summer program in Austin. There, I received intensive training over three months, worked alongside aspiring teachers, and was able to develop as a teacher over a 12-week, full-day program. I worked primarily with 6th graders in math, reading, and writing, but also taught a drawing/comics class for 6th-12th graders. Our students came from areas that had shown a greater likelihood for their students to start, but not complete, their college-level education. Working with kids who were just starting their 11-year journey, students who were in college and with Breakthrough, and the staff who had been with those kids for years gave me a wonderful perspective on what education looks like for many across the country, and solidified the importance of a holistic education system. I hope to bridge this passion with my architectural background in the near future, but in this moment where our schools and teachers are under an even-greater strain, I hope to help relieve some of that by assisting students where I can. My areas of greatest expertise are anything related to architecture, maths through trigonometry, writing and reading comprehension, and music (trumpet for more-advanced musicians, all brass for beginner/intermediate musicians). With any subject, I believe the most effective way to make meaningful progress is by continually making connections to other areas of knowledge and interest. This approach broadens the ways a student understands a concept, allowing for analysis and questioning that is more authentic and effective for that student's understanding of a concept. From my earliest high school years, I have had a passion for languages- studying Spanish, Italian, French, and German simultaneously by my senior year and continuing studies with Japanese and Russian before finishing high school. During high school, I tutored in Spanish and French.I received my BA from Georgetown University where I had begun my studies in the School of Languages and Linguistics and then later transferred to the College of Arts and Sciences to expand my studies to include International Economics and disciplinary studies via the Georgetown School of Foreign Service. During my undergraduate time, I lived in Buenos Aires, Argentina where I studied Political Science, International Economics, and Literature in addition to working in an International Consulting agency. I thrived during my time there socially and academically- researching for two theses to complete my undergraduate studies, with one in Spanish. During my time at Georgetown, I also studied Portuguese and tested at the high proficient level. Finally, I completed my Spanish certification while answering political science questions to a board of Spanish Faculty Professors- scoring the second highest level of fluency in Spanish with distinction for Foreign Service-Political Science knowledge.My Master's degree is in Latin American Studies from UCLA where I studied the economic, social and political science trends- specifically focusing on South America.Since graduating, I have been in sales- mostly commercial financial consulting and look forward to helping share experiences and mentoring in the same consultative style by learning strengths and challenges faced by each student and determining action plans to succeed together- not just teaching a lesson, but ensuring the lesson is active, engaged, and memorable to be enjoyed and lived thereafter.
