Part of being an effective tutor is being able to engage with the student, one-on-one, and helping them to overcome any difficulties in their assignments, while instilling in them the joy of learning. I earned my Bachelor's degree at St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas. I tutor in math, specifically pre-algebra, algebra 1, algebra 2, and geometry. I enjoy helping people get over their fear of math. I don't believe math should be a scary subject.Outside of tutoring, I enjoy going to the movies, reading, fashion design, sewing and crafting.

To start, I am a Korean-American originally from a small suburb near Los Angeles, California. My educational history includes a major in General Biology and minor in Psychology from the University of California, San Diego, as well as a Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree from Boston University. My educational interests include anatomy and physiology, kinesiology, neurobiology/psychology, algebra, and child and adolescent psychology. My personal interests vary from cooking to hiking to watching and playing just about every sport possible.I have had many years of tutoring experience in both a class and 1-on-1 setting. My longest experience involved tutoring a group of 10-12 7th and 8th grade students; which included but was not limited to completing schoolwork, preparing for STAR testing, and providing additional quizzes and questions when necessary. I have also had several years of part-time tutoring jobs for children in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 6th grade, with additional experience in 1-on-1 tutoring with 2 SAT students.My experience with teaching stems from not just an instructor's perspective, but also as a student; attending after school tutoring from the age of 13 to 17 years old. I believe this is one of the reasons I can connect to students so easily, because I understand the difficulties with learning. My tutoring sessions involve a very interactive approach on the part of the student with a reward based approach for their efforts. This is my way of promoting student interest in the topics of study, to prevent monotony and boredom with school work. I like to try to incorporate games into my tutoring sessions that may include topics they have learned; whether it's a memory card game, jeopardy, or a simple game of hangman.As your tutor, I will do my best to not only help your student excel at school, but also find fun in learning.

I am a life long teacher..My professional involvement went from 1970 up to 2014.From 1995 to 2014, I also worked part time as a professional, after school tutor for Volusia County Schools. While at Daytona State College, I tutored at their Academic Support Center.I also teach stand up paddle boarding, and ukulele on a semi professional level..I play the steel drums pretty well; and often play for events and parties for extra income...

I am a graduate from the University of Georgia who is taking a break from working as a full-time pharmaceutical research and development chemist before starting medical school. I've worked as a tutor for a wide range of ages from undergraduates all the way to elementary students. At the University of Georgia I graduated with honors with a BS in Chemistry. As a pre-med student my coursework was quite broad with many courses covering life, physical, and social sciences. I now hope to pass the knowledge and skills I have gained over my educational and professional experience to you and look forward to helping you reach your goals!In my spare time I enjoy playing basketball, hiking, long distance running, and watching sports. I am an honors student at Texas State University woking toward a BS in Forensic Anthropology with minors in Mathematics and in Sociology. I have been tutoring friends and peers in various subjects since high school, though the bulk of my ability and expertise lies in essay, paper, and speech writing/editing, non-calculus based statistical analysis, basic algebra, and in test prep skills. My ultimate desire is not only to help students understand subjects that they may be struggling with, but to help them cultivate a interest in and passion for the material itself. Understanding and ability in a subject is great, but a true desire for knowledge outside of the classwork itself creates a student driven by curiosity and interest instead of just wanting to pass the class. In my free time, I work at the Osteological Research and Processing Laboratory at the Forensic Anthropology Center at Texas State University. I also enjoy reading, watching documentaries, and finding new places to explore.

Apart from being a certified special education teacher, I have been tutoring regularly developing youngsters for the past 25 years. I enjoy working with, and, getting to know my students to discover their individual strengths and use those specific strengths to optimize learning.
