Tutoring review by Ariele in Tacoma, WA
The student and I worked on geometry project, and he was very precise and careful in his explanations of the steps in geometric construction and justifications. He often only needed help on how to get started and then the rest of the steps clicked for him. We also spent time discussing how to approach essay-writing, prepare an outline, and think about a work of literature even before a prompt is assigned. He has great ideas already for the upcoming essay. We'll focus on creating a concise but complex thesis that can really be argued in depth (not what "happens," but what the story is "about") and backing up his claims with textual support. His writing style and grammar already appears to be strong, but more emphasis will be place on that in revisions of his essay. He was truly a joy to work with today!

Tutoring review by Malcolm in Tacoma, WA
We worked in her new SAT book. We began by reviewing some verbal content before tackling some of the actual questions from the practice exam. We also set up a plan to try to get through most of the book before the exam. Additionally, I was able to provide useful insight into things to watch for on the actual exam.

Tutoring review by Kevin in Tacoma, WA
On Sunday, I spoke with the student about this past week's assignment. His assignment was on the topic of graph theory. We talked about the differences between paths, trails, circuits, and cycles. We spoke briefly about what it means for two graphs to be isomorphic. There were some problems that required him to consider planarity and finding a way to draw planar graphs with no overlapping edges. This week was similar to other weeks in that he was able to figure most of the questions out after he was able to fully grasp the requirements for the questions. Our discussion seemed to be especially beneficial this week.
