I recently graduated Summa Cum Laude from Utah State University with a minor in Mathematics, a B.S. in Physics, and a B.A. in Philosophy. I work in research related to quantum cosmology and the philosophy of time. I have years of experience teaching and tutoring in math, science, and literature at the high school and university level. By a comprehensive study and mastery of the ACT test, I achieved a composite score of 35 on the exam. I enjoy sharing the techniques and strategies I used to score in the 99th percentile, knowing that all student can increase their scores and master the test with guidance and practice. My approach in ACT tutoring focusses on strengthening key content knowledge, increasing answer accuracy and speed, and building up an understanding of the test dynamics. I work one-on-one with students to develop a custom study plan. Equipped with these skills and background, students will feel confident and primed for success on test day. My tutoring in mathematics and physics draws on many of those same principles and also focuses on intuitive approaches to understanding the methods in a straightforward, meaningful way. I affirm that learning is a source of great satisfaction and a powerful tool, and I enjoy sharing the experience of education with my students.

As a passionate tutor with over 2 years of experience, I am dedicated to helping students excel in mathematics, particularly in subjects like Algebra, Calculus, and Geometry. Currently pursuing a Bachelor's in Data Science at Utah State University, I leverage my academic background to provide real-world applications that make complex concepts more relatable. My teaching philosophy centers on fostering a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and exploring their understanding. I believe in tailoring my approach to meet each student's unique needs, which not only boosts their confidence but also enhances their academic success. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy engaging in problem-solving challenges and exploring new technologies, which further fuels my enthusiasm for teaching and learning.
Having been immersed in the educational field for some time now, I have a very strong interest in cultivating my passion for teaching. I have a substantial amount of experience working at the elementary, high school, and undergraduate levels in Classical Latin language, as well as Etymology and supplemental Latin tutoring. In the past, I had worked as an assistant and subject Latin tutor for primarily undergraduate students while attending University of Puget Sound and then Utah State University. More recently, I was given a wonderful opportunity to create my own Latin Curriculum and class at the K-7th Grade school, Fayette Street Academy, located in Santa Fe, NM.Due to this experience I had to relearn and re-frame how I taught Latin. This is especially the case at Fayette when Middle-schoolers don't see the benefits of studying a "dead language." Therefore, I wasn't challenged academically as much as I was with the undergraduate students at the aforementioned universities, but I was challenged in making this Latin approachable and pragmatic for the future academic careers of my students. I considered how important Latin is for building any student's resume. There are studies done that show how students with experience in Latin have a substantially better opportunity of being accepted to their desired College. Thus, I created my class in a way where I bridged the language and history of late antiquity, with supplemental units discussing etymology in order to show the students the modern day use of Latin. As a result I have exceptional class participation and engagement in the subject, so much so that I have to be proud of their desire to learn Latin.Teaching at Fayette has been the most meaningful experience of my life. It changed my career path from the medical field to education. I love Latin, and I feel like I can imbue my future students with the same passion I have for it. Thank you so much for your time. I look forward to speaking with you.Although my past year's experience in Latin might be rather specific, I also have extensive experience in providing online tutoring services via Grade Potential and Varsity Tutors, of which I've served as an on-going contract tutor for various subjects.
My teaching (and tutoring!) philosophy is that students will learn best when they are confident in their ability to grow academically, and comfortable to ask questions or admit when they need help. My philosophy also focuses on the importance of how the teacher presents themselves and the energy that they carry. I believe it is a teacher's responsibility to create a safe, calm, and student-oriented learning environment that is not rushed, angry, or impatient. I believe I am a top candidate as a tutor because I have a M. Ed. in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Psychology, and 7 years of classroom experience. I understand that scheduled time with a student is not to be wasted, or rushed. I do not believe in taking phone calls, texts, doodling, reading, etc. when working with a student. I am an experienced professional that loves her job, and I understand how important it is to the student and their families, that I do my job properly and effectively. If there is ever anything that I am unsure of, I will be truthful and say that I don't know, instead of providing students with the wrong information. Consistency, patience, communication, professionalism, and encouragement are what I look forward to offer as a tutor!

Whether it's reading fluently, understanding what they read, or becoming better writers, I want to make literacy fun and meaningful so students can see it as a way to learn, grow, and discover new things.

Hi! I'm here to help you master math and science. I am a full-time professional educator (since 2018) with a Master's in Chemistry from Utah State University. While there, I taught over 2,000 students and received the Robins Award for Graduate Teaching (USU's highest honor for graduate instructors). This means I don't just know the material, I know how to teach it. I specialize in making "hard" subjects approachable for Middle School, High School, and College students, including challenging college-level "weed-out" courses: Chemistry: (General, Organic, Honors, and AP), Biology: (General, Honors, and AP), Physics: (Conceptual and Algebra-based), Math: (Middle School through College Algebra), and SAT & ACT Prep: All sections. I help students reach elite score tiers, including the 30s on the ACT (and equivalent SAT scores). My approach is patient and easygoing. I focus on "the why" to build real confidence. Let's work together!
