After graduating from Emory University with a major in both Biology and Economics in 2014, I moved to New York where I currently work in a leukemia lab at Memorial Sloan Kettering. My current lab is very interested in the epigenetics of cancer, and I also have research interests in gene therapy. I recently took the new MCAT and scored in the 98th percentile overall, with 99+ percentile in all the science sections.Outside of my medical and academic interests, I live for soccer! Last winter, I went to London and saw my favorite team Arsenal play in their beautiful Emirates stadium. I'm starting to get back into my running and completed a marathon in Charleston in 2015 - I think this shows my perseverance and commitment to goals I set for myself. For Varsity Tutors, my goal is to gain greater experience helping students like yourselves in topics concerning the MCAT or sciences. I look forward to working with you in the future!

I have been tutoring for over 6 years. I have tutored privately, with companies, and at universities. I have also tutored many different students across many different ages. I love teaching and tutoring. I make sure to adapt my tutoring approach to each student I work with, ensuring that each student gets the most out of the tutoring session. Your success is my number one priority.
My previous tutoring experience comes from tutoring students at my high school and at the Gideon Math and Reading Center. I often taught math topics that students were not able to understand or specific problems. The math topics were usually geometry or algebra 2 questions/concepts. I also taught ACT and PSAT concepts to students. I also often helped my friends and my sister with difficult math homework problems that were assigned. Math is my strong suit and therefore, I am most comfortable teaching these subjects well. However, in regards to sciences or English, I am knowledgeable in these subject areas as well.
I graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in biology. Currently, I am a law student at Emory University.I am excited to help students learn tactics and strategies that will allow them to succeed on the LSAT! While studying for the LSAT, I used these tactics and strategies to increase my score by 18 points and score in the 99th percentile of all LSAT takers.
I am a senior at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, working towards my bachelor's in chemistry. I was a K-12 afterschool tutor throughout high school and have assisted students on everything from elementary reading to high school chemistry and SATs. In college, I also spent time at a girl's home providing homework help and was an on-campus Latin tutor.Having had wonderful teachers in the past, I see tutoring as a way to pay forward the love for learning they gave me. I also enjoy the challenge of communicating concepts in an audience-specific manner, and from having created many study guides as a student am interested in how the organization of knowledge can facilitate learning. My favorite subjects to teach are currently high school math, but I love chemistry and biology as well. In my spare time, I enjoy folding origami, doing jigsaw puzzles, and playing video games.
After volunteering on a medical team in Ghana in the summer of 2013, I now aspire to become a pediatrician for under-served populations. I graduated from Emory University with a degree in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology and Visual Arts, but I rather than apply to medical school straight away, I opted to take a few gap years. Currently, I am a graduate student at Columbia University in the process of completing a Master of Science in Human Nutrition, and when I return to Rhode Island this fall, I plan to work in labs conducting clinical research projects. I am excited to tutor students in biology, critique essays for grammar and organization, and provide constructive feedback for any visual art or creative writing pieces.

Hi I'm a current Emory undergrad and Economics major in the Athens area.I am focusing this Summer on providing quality SAT and Subject Test tutoring to select students who want an increase in their score.Using my methods over two years I was able to raise my score from a 1900 to a 2300 on the SAT (the equivalent of a 1560 on the new version).I provide both crash courses for those with only a few days or less, as well as more long-term study sessions.
Bonjour! I am a native speaker of French, fluent in English. I have years of experience teaching French language, culture, literature and cinema at all levels in higher education (one university in Minnesota and two in Georgia). I also organized or contributed to group conversations chatting in French on many topics (France & French speaking countries or regions, food, films, music, news etc.) I also have experience in tutoring learners of French and English. I can tutor children, teenagers and adults.I love learning and teaching. My students praise my clear explanations and how I am dedicated to my work. I enjoy witnessing the improvement of students. I graduated Bergen County Academies as a part of the Academy of Advancement of Science and Technology. I am currently a junior majoring in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology at Emory University. In my free time, I dance in a college organization, work as a researcher and serve as the philanthropy chairwoman for Gamma Phi Beta.I began tutoring in high school through NHS. I have spent my past several summers working as a TA for classes taught at my high school and have also served as a TA for a research class at my university. I spent my past semester abroad at University of Melbourne where I tutored ESL students as a part of my course, Understanding Knowing and Learning.I try to apply what I've learned in my coursework to my students and aim to keep my tutoring sessions interactive. I adjust my tutoring to fit the needs of the student and try to apply the information to what they are most comfortable with or real life situations which they are interested in.
I recently moved from San Francisco to Atlanta to study pediatric nursing and public health at Emory University. I am thrilled to be in this beautiful city and feel so fortunate to be embarking upon my graduate education. I have always been passionate about learning and enjoy helping others reach their personal and academic goals. As a dedicated facilitator, mentor, tutor and coach, I look forward to working with you to build upon your strengths as a student. Whatever your interests, challenges, and ambitions might be, I will support and guide you in realizing your potential.
Passionate about education, I've taught test prep, middle and high school, subject tutoring such as algebra, geometry and writing, ESL, and music theory and performance. I also have experience as a camp counselor, coach for soccer and basketball, and I have really enjoyed teaching game design courses for middle to high school age students. In my spare time, you'd find me playing music on guitar, piano or Ableton, writing children's books, or reading a book on world history.I am an English major from Emory University, which I attended on a merit-based scholarship. I have been tutoring SAT or ACT prep and other high school subjects for the past 15 years in Asheville, Atlanta, and Miami, and honed my techniques with several excellent organizations before joining Varsity Tutors for their Atlanta launch.I focus on simple strategies that can be applied universally to all sections of testing, while still trying to develop a specific approach for each student, because everyone learns a little differently.I enjoy tutoring SAT prep because I love seeing students make real progress, measurable in their scores, that will help them succeed in their educational and professional lives. Helping someone achieve their goals and dreams is a very rewarding feeling. What most makes me an effective teacher is the breadth of my knowledge and experience - math, literature, history, politics, music, art, journalism, and architecture have all been passions of mine. This variety of experience helps me relate to a wide range of students and teach many different subjects.
After graduating from Emory University with a Bachelor's degree in Biology, I got my Master's degree in Science Education from the University of Georgia. I have 5 years of teaching experience in secondary education. I have taught 12th grade Human Anatomy and Physiology, 9th grade Honors Biology, 10th grade Advanced Biology, and as well as 7th grade Life Science. I also have years of experience with private tutoring in multiple subjects including elementary and middle school math. Being born and raised in Korea, I am also fluent in Korean and would love to help someone learn the beauty of Korean language.
Learning and helping others learn are two of my passions. Everyone's style is different and I enjoy working with individuals to customize a plan that will be the most beneficial and enjoyable for them. Learning should be fun! It develops your ability to critically think about the world around you, which is an invaluable skill that you will use not only in school but for the rest of your life.I specialize in the sciences and math, have graduate level expertise in biological sciences and classroom teaching experience.
I received my bachelor's degree from Furman University, where I double majored in History and Religion with a concentration in Latin American Studies. I also have a masters degree from Emory University, and I am currently Pursuing a PhD in Religious Studies at SMU. My ultimate career goal is to become a college professor, but I love working with students of all levels. I tutor Spanish, Religious Studies, SAT and GRE writing and verbal, as well as essay writing and editing. I can help with college admissions essays as well. I especially enjoy helping students with their writing. I find that the process of learning to write a clear and well-argued essay can help students become better communicators and gain confidence sharing their opinions both inside and outside of the classroom. These are skills they can use for the rest of their lives. Since I too once struggled with finding the confidence to communicate my thoughts both aloud and in writing, I am passionate about nurturing confidence in the students I work with. When I am not tutoring, I enjoy reading, cooking, playing the viola, and relaxing with friends.
Hi, I'm Aba! I've spent over a decade teaching many different English language and literature classes in the U.S. and abroad (IB English Language and Literature, ESL, and British and American Lit, to name a few). It's been an absolute privilege to teach students from a variety of countries, backgrounds, and experiences.I've loved reading since childhood, and if I had to pick a favorite, it would be the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Not only am I blown away by Tolkien's expansive imagination, I'm encouraged by the wisdom and perseverance of ordinary and extraordinary characters rising to the challenge of their world and doing "what they can for the succor of their time!" When I'm not teaching, I enjoy walking with my dog Winnie, journaling, and travelling. I've visited 13 different countries on 4 different continents so far!I look forward to learning about YOUR interests and helping you in your English classes! See you in the classroom!
I am currently a graduate student at the Rutgers Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences - New Brunswick/Piscataway campus. Although I am pursuing a medical career, I am a firm advocate of education. In terms of how my belief meshes with my interest in medicine, patient education should play a large part in patient care. Education leads a greater understanding of underlying health issues, causes, and risks which leads to a greater chance in patient compliance. However, before I even came to be where I am now, education has always been a priority for me. My parents are immigrants from a South Korea that was still developing. Thus, they work and struggle in the United States for the sake of their children's education though they themselves do not have more than a high school education - if even that. I was raised to pursue higher education, but once I graduated college and started working during my gap year, I truly came to realize the importance of education and appreciate the academic opportunities I have had thus far. Without education, without a solid foundation in the basics that are later built upon in college and university, there is no personal or societal progress.
Hello there! I am an aspiring dentist currently in my second year of dental school at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. As an undergraduate, I dual majored in Neuroscience and Biology at Emory University. I absolutely love working with students of all ages, especially in middle and high school. I have had tutoring experience since I was in high school. I believe students learn best when taught by a peer with a thorough understanding of the subject at hand. I prefer to guide the student through the learning experience by teaching them the concepts behind each problem. Problem solving can be approached from many directions and I respect how each person approaches and solves a problem. I am looking forward to working closely with parents and students to develop a lesson plan catered to each student to help them do better in school and feel more self-confident about their scholastic achievements.
Hi, my name is Nick DeMarinis. I'm originally from Westchester, New York, and a recent graduate of Emory University. My path to becoming an LSAT Logical Reasoning tutor wasn't defined by natural test-taking ability or early successin fact, it was the opposite. When I first started studying for the LSAT, I was scoring in the mid-130s and felt overwhelmed by the complexity of the exam. Like many students, I questioned whether I was capable of reaching the score I needed. What changed for me wasn't some breakthrough moment or innate talentit was consistency, discipline, and developing a clear, repeatable approach to the test. Over time, I learned how to break Logical Reasoning down into manageable patterns, understand the test-maker's logic, and approach each question with confidence and structure. Through this process, I was able to raise my score into the high 160san improvement that fundamentally changed my opportunities. That journey is the foundation of how I tutor today. I don't believe the LSAT is a test reserved for "geniuses" or naturally gifted test-takers. I believe it's a learnable skill. My goal is to make the exam feel accessible by simplifying complex concepts, focusing on consistency over perfection, and helping students build systems that work for them. I've worked with students from a wide range of academic and personal backgrounds, and one thing is always clear: improvement is achievable with the right mindset and approach. I prioritize meeting students where they are, identifying their specific challenges, and giving them practical tools they can apply immediately. Whether it's mastering question types, improving timing, or building confidence, I focus on progress that compounds over time. Ultimately, my goal as a tutor is not just to help students increase their LSAT scores, but to show them that they are capable of far more than they initially believe. I've been in their position, and I understand the frustrationbut I also know what's possible with the right strategy and consistency.
I am a graduate of Emory University and Relay Graduate School of Education. During my time at Emory, I studied psychology and dance. I also taught numerous students within and outside of my coursework obligations across various disciplines, e.g. English/Shakespeare, dance, etc.. This unraveled a passion for teaching, which led me to pursue a masters in teaching at Relay Graduate School of Education with a particular focus on learning behaviorism (disabilities). For the last 4 years, I have had the honor to professionally teach PHENOMENAL students in Chicago, Illinois. Many of those students are those who happen to have a disability (or disabilities) and who have helped me to fall in love with teaching as a craft. I enjoy collaborating with students to conjure their full potential and to reconfigure how they go about learning. I humbly believe that learning can be both rigorous and fun. I strive to achieve the latter by curating personalized lesson plans as much as I can for students.I enjoy teaching English, Writing and Math for different reasons. I love to read and write, so the ability to share in that love with students is something I find to be extremely rewarding, especially when students are disinterested (and sometimes afraid) of them. As for math, it can be one of the most exciting languages to learn and to play with once the concepts "click". Overall, I really enjoy teaching and look forward to working with amazing new students!
I am a teacher passionate about motivating students and investing them in their education to meet their goals and succeed. I have a Masters of Science in Teaching Childhood Education and Special Education, and a background in Political Science and History. I was a teacher for two years in the New York City Department of Education, and over those two years I helped my students attain an average reading growth of 1.5 years/year for each student, and an average math level proficiency growth of 1.3 years/year per student. I have experience teaching students with a wide array of learning needs, and have experience motivating students to enjoy learning and feel inspired to achieve their goals.I look forward to supporting student learning as a tutor with Varsity Tutors.
I am a college graduate with a degree in chemistry. In pursuit of my degree I have become knowledgeable about a variety of subjects such as algebra, calculus, physics, and all things chemistry. In college I found out how I learned best and recognized that all people are different in how they learn and study.Recognizing that all people are different is important to my approach to tutoring because what works for some won't work for others. In addition to my experience working with other people in college, I worked as a supervisor at an overnight summer camp. In that time I had one on one instruction with hundreds of campers all from different backgrounds to teach a variety of skills.
Hi! I am currently a scientist that works in immunology, specializing in flow cytometry. I recently graduated from Emory University with a Bachelors of Science in Neuroscience. As an academician I take great pleasure as well as an honor to help guide students to understanding various disciplines of the arts and sciences including language. Having had the opportunity to fill different roles of teaching I find it especially rewarding to motivate students prepare their journey to higher learning and a career path.
I recently graduated from Emory University, and I am going to medical school at Columbia University in the fall. I worked as a TA and tutor in college for biology and music courses, and I also have experience preparing students for standardized tests. My approach to tutoring is not to simply teach the material, but also to give my students the tools and strategies they need to teach themselves. Since everyone learns differently, I adjust my teaching style to match how each of my students learn, and I enjoy the challenge of coming up with new ways to explain concepts and problems.

Before entering college, I tutored freshmen in high school through a peer leadership program, traveled to elementary schools as part of volunteer opportunities, and often coached family friends to help them prepare for standardized tests. The subjects I'm most passionate about include literature, Spanish, and sciences like biology. However, I also enjoy helping students prepare for standardized tests like the SAT or ACT. My teaching style is centered around the idea that learning is a process, and the key aspect to successful tutoring is persistence. Outside of academia, some of my hobbies include volunteering, exercising, and traveling to new places.

A great education is one of the best resources a person could have at their disposal. These words are even more true in today’s society. I graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in Psychology and Chemistry from Case Western Reserve University and obtained my J.D. from Emory University School of Law. I enjoyed helping students to achieve their greatest academic potential. As such, I have been tutoring students in addition to my job as a full time attorney practicing in a midsize firm. I am well versed with various humanities and scientific subjects, and I have a great deal of experience in tutoring student for standardized testing such as the SAT, ACT, and LSAT.
I've always loved helping people, even my friends when we were in the same classes. It brings me a lot of satisfaction when I help a student feel more confident in what they are learning. It is so rewarding when I am able to relieve the stigma of certain subjects, especially math, in order for a student to perform well. I hope my work with different students is able to promote the importance of education!
I am a recent graduate from Emory University, earning a BA in chemistry and a minor in sociology. I have spent the last 7-8 years tutoring students in all grade levels (K-12 and college) in subjects such as math, English, and chemistry. In addition, I have a strong background in tutoring for standardized testing such as SAT math and the ACT. Throughout undergrad, I served as a teaching assistant in chemistry, and I have volunteered as a tutor for the Homework Helpline for grade school children. Therefore, I would love to connect with you about subjects that you may need to navigate!
I want to live in a world filled with inspired self-starters and self-assured young people. As a young professional, helping others own their spark is what keeps mine twinkling. Whether its as modest as modifying a rowing machine with duct tape to be disability friendly, as brave as a teenagers first authentic statement in family therapy after months of nudging, as critical as ensuring there isnt a refugee without food or shelter, or as important as teaching a teenager how to read, I am energized through equipping and empowering others. Im an action-oriented extrovert who is equal parts goal and relationship-oriented and ready to be challenged and engaged.
I am a recent MBA graduate and relocated to Atlanta from Los Angeles, CA. I have tutored middle and high school students on everything from essay writing to math and I am also a volunteer for the Junior Achievement program. I believe that learning should be fun. I know that each student is different and I adapt my tutoring style to the student's style of learning. I am a visual learner and find that drawing out a problem really helps students grasp a problem or concept. In the long run, I want to work in education reform. In my free time, I like to run, try new recipes (or restaurants), travel to places near and far and hang out with friends.
I look forward to helping students and professionals learn what they need to and love the process of discovery. Thank you.
