I graduated with my Bachelors in Psychology and Child Development in 2019, and I received my Master of the Arts in Clinical Psychology in August of 2021. I am currently a doctoral student in clinical psychology with an emphasis on child/adolescent mental health. I love working with kids of all ages, and have had several opportunities to work as an individual tutor, helping a third-grade child with homework, and as a teaching assistant during undgrad. I additionally have had opportunities in graduate school to continue doing informal tutoring and have served as a TA for a lifespan and development course.

I'm an experienced educator with a passion for helping students reach their fullest potential, I bring both expertise and empathy to every tutoring session. I've spent several years teaching high school, specializing in government and economics plus public speaking and legal reasoning through our mock trial program. I've worked with students of all skill levels and learning styles. Whether a student needs to build confidence, master difficult content, or learn how to think critically and independently, I strive to meet them where they are and guide them forward with patience and purpose. My teaching philosophy centers on clarity, engagement, and connection. I believe that students thrive when they feel understood and when instruction is personalized to their goals, strengths, and interests. I specialize in breaking down complex topics into manageable, relatable conceptsand I always aim to make learning both effective and enjoyable. Education is not one-size-fits-all, and tutoring offers the flexibility to truly individualize the learning process. I'm excited to support students not just in achieving academic success, but in becoming curious, confident learners.
I am a graduate of Berea College as well as Asbury Theological Seminary. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Music Education with a focus in instrumental instruction. I later completed a Masters Degree in Church Music (vocal music emphasis) from the seminary. Since graduation, I have served as a music educator in public and private school settings. With a strong track record of classroom success, I'm passionate about helping students learn more about all aspects of music.
I graduated from Berea college in May 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts and Science in Mathematics and Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting. While in college, I was a teaching assistant for college Algebra, Trigonometry, Statistics, Principles and advanced Accounting. I love working with students and making sure they leave with the confidence that, "you can do anything you put your mind to".
I majored in Chemistry with a concentration in Biochemistry as a pre-med undergraduate at Berea College. My favorite classes in high school and throughout college were chemistry and biology which led her to pursue biochemical research and a career in medicine. Tutoring students in various subjects since the ninth grade, I have nearly eight years of experience. During my post-secondary education, I volunteered with the One-to-One tutoring program where I tutored local elementary students in math, reading, and social studies. I also volunteered as a science instructor for Vanderbilt University’s Aspirnaut STEM Program for elementary and middle school students, while working as a Chemistry Teaching Assistant/tutor for undergraduate courses. In the fall of 2017, I will be attending the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine to complete my post-graduate studies. Daughter of a high school algebra and English teacher, I really enjoy tutoring and helping students understand subjects especially in the areas of math, reading, and science. I find it rewarding to share my knowledge and passion for science with students just being introduced to the subject. My goal in tutoring is to not only get the students on course with their grade level work but to also challenge them to surpass this level of understanding by finding creative approaches to teaching complex topics.
My college education was just the beginning of what has for me become a lifelong journey as a tenacious learner. It started with a first grader who needed some support in reading. Through the Berea Reads Mentoring Program, I became his tutor. My mentee struggled to find joy and motivation in learning because he felt he couldn't learn. I quickly realized and noted the effort that my mentee was exerting in trying to learn the material and encouraged both him and his mother that he had what it took to be a great student, not just in reading, but in learning for the rest of his life. I didn't give up when one approach didn't work but continued putting into practice what I was learning in the classroom. These many years later, I still remember the anticipation with which my mentee and his mother came to the sessions. Instead of discouragement, my mentee was motivated, still working just as hard, while also meeting with success. After I graduated, I knew I wanted to continue supporting students as they too discovered their personal learning path to success. To that end, I have dedicated the past 20 years of my life; working alongside students and teachers as a support staff member in both early child care settings as well as elementary schools from kindergarten through 5th grade, tutoring students with dyslexia, in addition to mentoring high school students as an AmeriCorps Volunteer, and currently homeschool my six-year-old son.I admire the tenacity of people like Amelia Earhart who did not attribute her successful aviation career to being the best, but instead, to simple and tenacious hard work. This is why too I am convinced that every student can learn and therefore make it my personal goal to support students in identifying the ways in which they personally learn best. I've experienced the greatest success with this approach while working as a one-on-one Special Education Paraprofessional for three years with a student who was both visually and auditorily impaired. I became adept at using manipulatives, as well as a variety of visual equipment to help the student successfully communicate as well as practice the material. It is in large part, due to this experience that I continue to approach learning opportunities with a keen focus on finding solutions and also am motivated to seek out opportunities to support the next generation's thinkers in their pursuit of becoming lifelong learners.
I went to college in Kentucky. I went to a small private institution for under-priviledged students called Berea CollegeI graduated from Berea with a major in Psychology and a minor in Sociology, and I am hoping to go back for my masters in Social Work so I can start working as a therapist for children and young adults. Teaching students is unlike anything I have done before; by helping students you are aiding them to get a step closer to their future, and to achieve their dreams. When helping a student you might be opening the doors to the next engineer to go to space, or the next winner of a Nobel prize. I have previously worked with students of all ages and truly, they have become my dear friends each time. Teaching for me has been more than just having a student learn something, it has been about building relationships and truly exploring the potential of that student. I can help Elementary and Middle School students with english, math, and science. As well as students of all ages with spanish, which is my favorite subject to teach. There is something about teaching my native language to others that makes me so happy. My teaching style is interactive and adaptive, I will try different approaches until I find what works best for that student. Depending on the age I might even learn about how they learn and go from there. When teaching I believe that everyone has potential, and even when they struggle with one subject they excel at others. I love people. I love spending time with my friends and family, as well as meeting new people and hearing their stories.
I am an English teacher ready to help! I have a love for literature and breaking down texts to make them more comprehensible. I work hard to make learning accessible.
