My university course, especially my teaching and tutoring practice, has confirmed my belief that teaching is one of the most challenging, demanding, but varied and exciting career which requires the experience and knowledge of how a tutor teaches. I am an Electrical Engineering student pursuing my degree at Boston University. My previous tutoring and teaching assistant experience made me believe we have multiple intelligences and that every person has the potential to be gifted, but that this can present itself in many different ways. Therefore, everyone have their own preferred learning style, which best suits their intelligence. As a tutor, I feel I can best meet person's learning needs if I am aware of the learning style suited to them. I tutor elementary and advanced subjects that include Physics, Mathematics(Calculus I/II/III, Statistics, Trig and Algebra), Chemistry, Computer Science, Information Technology, Biology and Electrical Engineering courses. Examinations that I am most familiar with are SAT subjects, GCSE, A-level, IB, AP and advanced university courses.

I am an undergraduate student at American University majoring in International Relations and minoring in Communications. I also completed the International Baccalaureate program and received my IB diploma. I love helping students achieve their goals and find that making a personal connection is incredibly important in engaging students and tutoring them. Most of my tutoring experience is with high school students, though I have worked as a science camp teacher for younger students as well. I find that my strongest subjects are math and history, though I have excelled in all of my courses and am open to helping students with what they need most. In my free time I love playing sports (soccer and basketball), doing yoga, and choreographing dances for AU's dance club.

I graduated 2013 from East Jackson Comprehensive High School with honors, and I’m currently attending the University of North Georgia pursuing a dual Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry and Pre-med. After obtaining my bachelor’s degree, I plan to attend the University of Augusta to earn a dentistry degree.I started tutoring at my church helping students who needed help with honors and AP level chemistry. I now occasionally lead study groups of my current classmates for college level chemistry and physics courses, and I provide individual tutoring as well. My favorite subject would have to be chemistry, although I enjoy all science courses. Since chemistry is my favorite subject to learn about it is also my favorite subject to teach. I’ve always had a passion and great interest for learning chemistry and it’s always a pleasure for me to be able to share that with others. The reason it’s my favorite subject is just because I love learning what makes things “tick” or learning why things work and behave the way they do. I also enjoy physics for the same reason, making it a close second to chemistry. When I tutor I try to adapt my teaching technique to fit the way that works best for the student, however my overall style is to create a friendly and engaging atmosphere for the student so that they aren’t afraid to ask questions, and hopefully create a genuine interest for the student in the material.I usually spend most of my free time either playing video games or binge watching Netflix. Admittedly I usually way too into TV shows when I watch them so depending on if I’m in the middle of a series or not is usually what determines where most of my time goes. Some of my favorite shows include The Office, Dexter, Parks and Rec, Cosmos, The Flash, and Arrow. I do play a decent amount of video games as well, mostly on Xbox One. However I also love getting overly competitive playing some good old-fashioned Wii Sports.I really enjoy music. I was in band as a percussionist from middle school through most of high school, where I played in the pit during marching band season. I still enjoy playing music almost every week in my church band as well where I play the drums. The rest of my free time (which to be honest isn’t a whole lot) I usually find myself at a gym. Staying in shape and working out is important to me even if it isn’t my favorite thing to do.

I graduated from the University of Vermont with a B.A. in English and Film & Television Studies. I have had experience tutoring in a range of subjects; my passions are writing nonfiction and reading, so I especially love tutoring essay writing and critical reading.I am an extremely positive and patient tutor, but that doesn't mean I'm easy. To the credit of my students, I've witnessed much improvement in their study skills and reading comprehension. I firmly believe hard work and education will make a person the best he or she can be. I work as hard as I can to get my students to a place where they understand the best ways for them to learn, and I aim to inspire a lifetime love of learning! When I'm not tutoring, reading, or writing, you'll most likely find me attempting a new DIY craft project, baking a pie, or attending a theatrical production.

Originally from Toronto, I graduated from the University of Rochester in May 2015 with a B.S. in Neuroscience, a minor in French, and a minor in Music. I studied piano performance at the Eastman School of Music, volunteered as an EMT with the University of Rochester Medical Emergency Response Team, and spent a year on the Varsity Field Hockey Team. I also spent my time volunteering as a member of Delta Gamma for the Service for Sight Foundation. I was lucky enough to have spent a semester abroad in Paris, capitalizing on the availability of French pastries and museum access. After spending time as a Teaching Assistant for Biology and Organic Chemistry Lab in college, I discovered a passion for teaching. I am currently a full time Teaching Assistant for the Americorps- affiliated program Blue Engine, teaching Algebra I at an arts high school in the Bronx. I am planning on applying to medical school in the hopes of someday becoming a neurologist. In my spare time, I enjoy practicing yoga, painting, and driving my bright orange motorcycle.

When I am not working, I love to explore New York City and discover new things about it. Writing excites me, and I am working on a book about my experiences overseas. I am also very athletic. Frequently Asked Questions
Varsity Tutors connects students across San Antonio's 42 school districts and 624 schools with personalized tutoring support. With over 333,000 students in the San Antonio area, we work with families from SAISD, North East ISD, Northside ISD, and other districts throughout the region to provide customized instruction that fits each student's unique needs.
Texas has specific learning standards across math, reading, science, and social studies that students must master at each grade level. Tutors work with San Antonio students to strengthen foundational skills, build confidence in tested subjects, and develop the critical thinking strategies needed to succeed on STAAR assessments and in the classroom. Personalized instruction allows tutors to focus on the exact areas where each student needs support.
San Antonio students frequently seek support in math (especially algebra and geometry), reading comprehension, and science—subjects that are heavily tested under Texas standards. Many students also benefit from tutoring in English language arts to strengthen writing skills, and in test preparation for STAAR, SAT, and ACT exams. Tutors can also help with Spanish language instruction, a valuable skill in San Antonio's diverse community.
With an average student-teacher ratio of 14.5:1 across San Antonio's school districts, classroom teachers often have limited time for individualized attention. Personalized 1-on-1 tutoring fills that gap by providing dedicated support focused entirely on a student's learning style, pace, and specific challenges—something that's difficult to achieve in a traditional classroom setting.
The first session is designed to build rapport and understand your student's goals, strengths, and areas for improvement. A tutor will assess your student's current knowledge in the subject, discuss what they're working on in school, and create a personalized plan for how tutoring can best support their learning. This foundation helps tutors tailor instruction to match your student's needs from day one.
Yes. While many San Antonio families connect with tutors for math, reading, and science support, tutors also help with subjects like social studies, foreign languages (including Spanish), test preparation, writing skills, and even study strategies. Whatever subject your student is taking in school, Varsity Tutors can help match them with a tutor who has expertise in that area.
San Antonio's 42 school districts each have their own curriculum frameworks and pacing guides, which is why personalized tutoring is so valuable. Tutors work with students from SAISD, North East ISD, Northside ISD, and other districts throughout the area and understand how to support students within their specific district's approach to learning. When you connect with a tutor, you can share details about your student's school and curriculum so instruction aligns perfectly.
Yes. Many San Antonio families use summer tutoring to help students maintain skills over the break, get ahead before the new school year, or catch up on concepts that were challenging during the year. Summer is also a great time for test prep (STAAR, SAT, ACT) or to build confidence in a subject before advancing to the next level. Tutors can work with your schedule to provide flexible support during the summer months.
