About Me

I am a junior at Boston University and plan on attaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. I graduated high school as the top 10% in my class and with Regents Diploma with Honors. I started tutoring since I was thirteen years old and thus, I have experiences teaching adults and children from different age groups. I have taken math courses up to Calculus II and received A's in all the math courses I took. As a native Mandarin speaker as well as a past teacher's assistant in the language class, I learned to develop the most effective way to teach my native language to a student who is new to my language. I believe that education is the key to success, but a well-developed, trusting relationship between a tutor and a student can transform lives. I had helped a struggling high school student be college ready and pursued his parents, whose primary concern is academic, to allow him to continue to be the lead member of the basketball team in his school. In a large classroom setting, I intervened in bullying situations and ensured that every child feels welcome in the classroom. I serve as my student's friend, educator and mentor. As tutors, I believe that we not only need to give the students the knowledge they need, but also need to provide them a warm, welcoming environment that promote the learning process. In my free time, I enjoy giving back to my community. I volunteered at a dog shelter and read out loud picture books to kids with reading disability. I am also a dancer and an amateur photographer.
