I am committed wholeheartedly to shrink the achievement gap to a minuscule number. Most of the youngsters who become behavioral challenges in our classrooms are those who have acute literacy deficiencies. Before his untimely death, I supported celebrity national literacy spokesman Issac Hayes efforts to make America 100% literate. Over the years I have worked in urban public schools with pupils who were underachievers drawn by the lures of the streets. These youths in particular led me to complete a masters degree in Business Administration.
