About Me

I have been teaching for eleven years at a small middle school in western PA. Ten of those years have been spent as an 8th grade language arts teacher. I love what I do because I love working with young adults and exposing them to different texts. I find that I work well with this age group and am able to relate to them. The cornerstone of my teaching philosophy is that once students know you care about them and their success, they will put forth extra effort to do well in your class.

My philosophy of teaching is that who I am teaching is more important that what I am teaching. I am always invested in my students and want to see them grow as members of society and as learners, and I have always found that once students know how much I care about their success, the more effort they put forth. Once this motivation is in place, we can really start to focus on the material that needs to be mastered.
