I started as a swim coach and swim lesson teacher seven years ago and since then have tutored children and adults from the ages of 9 years old to 20 years old. I have experience tutoring in math, algebra, geometry, biology, physiology, chemistry, physics, MCAT review and study techniques, as well as reading and writing. During my free time, you will find me either writing songs on my guitar, swimming, surfing, cooking, or spending time with my friends and family. My approach to teaching is to first understand how the student learns so that I can help them develop effective study and homework strategies. Every person learns a little differently, and I believe that finding the method that works best for each individual is not only the best way to learn, but also the most fun way. I also believe in building my students' confidence in themselves and their own abilities and knowledge. One of the key ingredients to doing well on homework assignments and exams is to be confident in oneself. Confidence leads to perseverance and tenacity, but it is often the first quality that is lost when a student is having trouble in school. I believe that by helping my students realize just how capable they truly are, I can help them rebuild their confidence when they study, do homework, or take their exams.
