- My name is Sterling Chan and I have been working in education for the past five years, specializing in math.
- My belief though is that all children have the capacity to learn though at a unique rate that must be met and understood.
About Me
The children I have taught have varied in grade level (K-8th) exhibiting a wide spectrum of skill levels from struggling to gifted, coming from both low-income and affluent communities. My approach to teaching a new skill and assisting struggling students is to first establish an appreciation for its "real-world" application and then to break down the concept into "step-by-step" bites. Unique strengths that I bring to the tutoring relationship are my abilities to communicate and connect with students as well as an excitement for the subject matter. I believe these gifts enable me at best to instill an appreciation for learning and at the very least the capacity to frame the skill in a way that is relevant to the individual students' experience. I look forward to putting these gifts to work for your young learner's needs. In my free time I enjoy Ultimate Frisbee, singing, writing, world cultures, music, Magic the Gathering and Sudoku.
