I believe education can be fun, engaging, and immersive. At some point, learning must become more than just completing homework assignments and shift more towards building capable individuals ready to support and lead society. In high school I grappled with this always wondering why and how what I was learning would serve me in 'Real-Life'. It took me a year of college where I was forced to find and build my own passions, no one was going to do it for me. As a psychology major I learned how to perform research not only in my academic field but in other areas as well. I began taking classes in [business, healthcare, french, biology, engineering, law] figuring out how to make learning fun and most importantly useful. At that time, I became entrepreneurial and wanted to soak up as much knowledge as I could. Around my junior year, I began looking how I could apply my knowledge to the outside work, noticing problems and attempting (earnestly) to solve them. I began going to places none of my friends knew about, attending meetups, hackathons, eventually figuring out other streams of activities that I could use to reinforce my knowledge base. I did not know what I was doing at the time yet I knew that I needed to sharpen my skills and understanding in whatever capacity I could. I want to help young people, like myself, continue learning -- so we can have a significant impact on our communities and the worlds beyond!
