About Me

I am passionate about knowledge - both acquiring it and imparting it. I have served extensively as a teacher and tutor in the classroom, in one-on-one or small group settings, and even abroad. I went to a private liberal arts school for my undergraduate degree, where I learned the value of a well-rounded, dynamic educational approach which I bring to all of my studies and teaching. I have taught and researched in a range of areas but for the last three years, my particular focus has been on Classics, Archaeology and Foreign Languages at the University of Texas at Austin as a graduate student. Reading and language acquisition are two of my strongest assets, primarily working in English, Greek and Latin, but also with reading fluency in four additional languages. I have traveled extensively in Europe, as an archaeologist and for my own curiosity, and I am enthusiastic about the influence of culture of learning, expression, and history. I have always had a knack for mathematics and was originally on track to be a chemist, both of which have served me well in my pursuits as an archaeologist and my work on various National Science Foundation grants. I have taught in educational settings up to and including the undergraduate level, and I look forward to finding just the right approach with each individual student because one size does not always fit all.
