About Me

I am currently an adjunct professor at a private college in Boston where I teach English - both Literature and Composition - as well as several courses in the Humanities, including Art History. In addition to my teaching responsibilities, I very much enjoy meeting with my students during office hours where I have the opportunity to work individually with anyone seeking extra help. During a typical meeting I spend as much time listening as instructing. My goal is to help a student gain greater understanding of the material but just as importantly to help build confidence through practice and instruction that is customized to meet a particular student's needs. I think the best tutoring session occurs when there is a give-and-take of questions, responses and recommended solutions: maintaining a dialogue is vital. I find it very rewarding when I observe one of my students improve in an area that was originally daunting, whether that involves revising ideas in a paper, mastering material for an upcoming exam, proofreading a final draft, or gaining the confidence to join in the next class discussion. My favorite areas are Writing, (anything from the fundamentals to research essays) Literature, Art History and Drama. In my spare time I enjoy reading short stories and novels, watching plays - live performances whenever possible - and rooting for the Red Sox!
