Hello! I'm currently in graduate school pursuing a Masters in social work from The Ohio State University and have a BA in community education from the University of West Florida. I'm passionate about education and providing equal access to education. I believe in strengths based approaches, and love to make learning fun and engaging by utilizing a student's passions and skills.I have experience as a paraprofessional in elementary and high school settings. In both environments, I assisted students who were English language learners and students that had disabilities. These experiences have allowed me to develop my approach to instruction and assist struggling learners gain the knowledge and skills to meet their academic goals. For example, the students I have worked with have made significant gains in reading, with their test scores improving by up to two grade levels.

My name is Antoine, and I love teaching. I first garnered my love for teaching through the organization 4-H, which uses non-traditional teaching methods, namely experiential learning. I love planning and implementing fun educational workshops in any subject, but especially those I'm passionate about.I have taught courses in music, leadership, biology, through formal settings, and numerous other subjects in a non-traditional settings. I substitute teach, particularly math subjects, but am flexible in which subjects I will approach. I love when I get to substitute and actually continue a lesson for a series of classes, and not just give busy work for them to do until their teacher returns the next day.Tutoring is fun because I get to connect with a student on their level and make the subject matter relevant to them; no matter how frivolous they've determined it to be. I believe everyone has the capacity to learn, so I always take the proper care and time to foster that within all students.

I am servant of my community, a teacher, and an advocate. I love children and work to help them understand concepts. I have been working with children in educational settings from afterschool care to teaching for 5 years. I have a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from Dillard University that trained me how to help and adapt to people's needs. I was a math teacher for two years and an afterschool teacher for 2 years before teaching full time. I believe that a great teacher is a teacher who teaches to the whole student socially, emotionally, and mentally. I bend my teaching techniques to each child's individual learning ways. Catch me writing, taking pictures, and spending time with family in my free time. I have teaching experience in every subject from grade 3rd-8th.
