For the past 8 years, I have been a lover of tutoring. I believe it is one of the best ways to help young students get a better education because they can address their personal grievances. Often times, our teachers fail us because they do not provide enough one-on-one time, or do so in a setting wh...

I consider myself to be a pioneer educator of all levels of mathematics. After completing my Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Physics at University of Maryland, College Park, I dedicated my life to math education by earning a Master of Education in Secondary Education at the same university and completed my student teaching credentials at Montgomery Blair High School near Washington, DC. Furthermore, as a good teacher is also a good student, I am pursuing a Master of Science degree in Applied Mathematics at Towson University. I have over 6 years of experience teaching students from many different backgrounds. At the High School level, I have taught Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Consumer Mathematics, & AP Calculus. At the Community College level, I have taught Developmental Mathematics & Introductory Statistics.I love tutoring all math courses as they are all interconnected in the greater scheme of analytical thinking. When tutoring, I ask students for their goals in the course, whether they are an art student needing a math credit, or an engineering student who needs to prepare for further courses in the future, I am prepared to help students with their goals. Furthermore, I always review the basics that form the foundation of a math topic as just a little explanation of a previous topic will engage students with the problem at hand.My primary interests outside of mathematics are globetrotting and movies. I love meeting new people and seeing new sights. I usually try to do satisfy my wanderlust by travelling to new cities and countries. So far, I have visited at least 24 countries and hope to see many more. I am currently living in Budapest and loving every minute of the experience. However, sometimes a good movie can send me to far away lands that I have yet to see. I therefore love watching independent and science fiction movies.

Hi my name is Sam. I studied engineering at Duke University and I've always enjoyed mathematics.Currently I work as a business analyst at Under Armour in Baltimore. I love the sports world and outside of the office I enjoy basketball, golf, and skiing, and watching movies. There's a pretty good chance my word problems will relate to one of those activities.I'm excited to help students build a strong base of understanding that will allow them to confidently walk into the classroom and tackle the material in front of them. I like to start small and simple, keeping things positive along the way to help students build confidence and an enthusiasm for solving problems.

I received my B.A. in Public Health Studies from Johns Hopkins University in 2011 and my Master of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in 2013. I am currently working in pancreatic cancer research at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. I have prior research experience in both cancer biology and molecular biology. At the Bloomberg School of Public Health, I enjoyed working one-on-one with students as a Molecular Endocrinology teaching assistant. Although I scored the highest on the Biological Sciences section of the MCAT, I feel confident that I can also assist students with the Physical Sciences and Verbal Reasoning portion. I believe that the best way to learn material is to create a tailored study plan and to break down material into discrete and manageable portions. As a tutor, my goal is to teach every student how to study effectively, understand difficult material, and succeed in the knowledge, course, and test that they desire. In my spare time I enjoy 5-on-5 pickup basketball, reading a good book, and cooking for my friends.

I am a recent graduate of Johns Hopkins with a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. My focus was in robotics which requires a good deal of differential equations and linear algebra as well as other mathematics. My studies in robotics combined Computer Science, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineering, so I have a broad range of tool-sets for any problem. My research has included building and testing drones and performing simulations in virtual environments.During my graduate work, I served as a teaching assistant in a robotics course and won an award as one of the best teaching assistants in the Mechanical Engineering department. I taught students about robotic sensors, motors, and how to program micro controllers such as Arduino to interact with sensors and actuators. I have significant experience in Outdoor Education having served as an Outdoor trip leader and instructor during school. Teaching city kids and non-outdoorsy types how to canoe, sail, or survive a week-long camping trip required me to explain concepts completely foreign to some. I have been given substantial feedback that I teach concepts in an orderly, linear manner, with the ability to understand where someone has a deficiency. I applied that experience to teaching robotics and continue to do so as a tutor. One of the trends I see with middle and high school education is the lack of proper foundation in certain subjects especially math. I, and many fellow students, experienced challenges with higher-level mathematics courses because we lacked a thorough preparation. I take an individualized approach with each student because I have seen first-hand how a standard curriculum can leave important concepts unexplained and unexplored. In this vein, I tutor subjects including elementary math and Prealgebra through Precalculus.

In 2014 I graduated from Johns Hopkins University as a Public Health major with a concentration in Immunology and Infectious Diseases. I then went on to complete a Masters program at Georgetown University in human physiology. Given the amount of schooling I have gone through myself, I have taken a wide range of subjects and more standardized tests than I would like to admit. I have taught students of almost every age in various fields such as elementary science, Hebrew, chemistry, MCAT prep, and many more.. My ultimate plan is to go to medical school, but in the meantime I try to teach as much as possible!
