A Symbolic Systems and Theater double-major at Stanford University in Northern California, Milan is very excited to be a part of the Varsity Tutors team. His main academic interests are English, philosophy, math, and computer science, but Milan enjoys many other subjects (psychology, physics, and economics to name a few). He is fluent in Spanish and an active member of the Latino community. In his free time, he enjoys reading, writing, and taking the occasional photograph.

For as long as I have been a student, I have taken great pleasure in imparting my knowledge on others and in seeing others succeed. I especially love tutoring motivated, hard-working students to help them achieve their full potentials. When reviewing material with a student, I generally like to delve straight into the meat of a topic, helping the student along the way if need be. It is also crucial to be patient and understanding when a student is struggling with a concept, since this is conducive to the student's learning.I am currently in the process of obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in pure mathematics at Rice University in Houston, Texas. I tutor a wide range of subjects including U.S. History, algebra, calculus, chemistry, comparative politics, economics, and test preparation. Although I enjoy tutoring in all of these subjects, I especially like tutoring math-related subjects such as high school algebra, calculus, and linear algebra. Outside of class and tutoring, I enjoy golfing, stargazing, collecting foreign coins, and playing the violin.

I am a graduate of St Matthews University School of Medicine. From St. Matthews, I received my Doctorateof Medicine. I received my Bachelor of Science, with the focus in Mathematics, from Howard University.Since graduation, I have practiced medicine in Jamaica and taught mathematics in New York City. While Iam able to tutor a broad range of subjects, my favorite is mathematics. I love math and I am passionateabout helping students master mathematical concepts. More particularly I try to instill a similarenthusiasm for the subject within my students by showing them how math can be applied to benefit them in their real lives. I try to build on their confidence in their mathematical ability while emphasizing howthe process of reaching their academic goal can be a lot of fun. In my personal time, I enjoy runningand traveling.

Long before I graduated in May 2013 from Muhlenberg College with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Public Health, I knew that I wanted to take a gap year between my undergraduate education and medical school to pursue personal interests of mine. These interests include continuing my experience as a tutor, focusing on my physical fitness by jogging, swimming and playing sports, traveling, spending time with my family and friends, and partaking in new activities that I have yet to become involved in due to time constraints. For instance, after graduating from college, I have so far had the chance to work with children as a lifeguard at a private day camp and as a volunteer at Celtic Charms, a therapeutic horseback riding center for the physically and mentally handicapped. Considering that I thoroughly enjoy teaching and working with students of all ages, I really appreciate the opportunities I have had thus far, such as tutoring Statistical Analysis and Principles of Biology I at the college level and GED math to underprivileged students in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Currently, I tutor high school math, including Geometry, Algebra, Trigonometry, and Pre-Calculus, as well as high school Biology, Physics, and Chemistry. I also enjoy tutoring college level Biology, which consists of topics that are essential to my future career as a medical professional. In addition to enjoying the subject material, I take pleasure in motivating students to work as hard as necessary to achieve their goals, helping them to constantly improve their academic performance, and explaining challenging concepts using a variety of methods personalized for each student. I understand how much of a positive impact a tutor can be on a student’s performance and overall confidence, and it is highly rewarding to play that role myself.

I am a biochemistry/kinesiology undergraduate at the University of Houston. I am currently in my junior year. I have been tutoring for the university for almost two years. My interests include powerlifting, I enjoy going to new places (churches, museums, gardens, coffee shops, etc.) to learn more about the history of where I live. I am planning on writing the MCAT and applying to medical school after graduating.

I am a current student attending graduate school at Columbia University. I graduated from Yale University in 2011 and upon graduation, joined Teach for America, a non-profit organization whose mission is is to help close the current opportunity gap that exists in classrooms across the U.S. I taught 1st 2nd and 3rd grade for three years and while teaching, earned a Master's Degree in Education. In addition to being a classroom certified teacher, I have also tutored older students in SAT test preparation, as well as classroom content such as calculus and physics. I tutor a wide range of subjects, ranging from elementary education to high school Mathematics, science and Spanish. I enjoy teaching and my work is about my students, who have the potential to achieve at the highest levels, and their parents, who want the best for them. Outside of teaching, I enjoy reading, watching/playing sports (especially basketball, which I played in college!), skiing, and knitting.

I am a recent College grad with a passion for reading and the production and interrogation of knowledge.

I'm an easy going person who has huge interest in education, physical fitness, and outdoor adventures. I've been fortunate enough to take these interest and make a career out of teaching Social Studies, and Physical Education in schools.
