Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I talked about his week so far, as well as plans for study over the course of the next week. We spent the majority of the session working on research for his SAGES paper. We then read, took notes, and marked down key passages of two important articles that he plans to incorporate into his paper. We plan to work on his Econ paper next Tuesday, and we will spend any potential remaining time on his SAGES paper."
"The student has a big history test this week, so we spent the session going through the study guide he was given. The test was on pre-Columbian history and the early explorers, and he had to really think about not, just the facts of what happened, but the different points of view and theories as well. He had a pretty good grasp on everything. After discussion of each question, I think he felt much more confident in his own personal understanding of the topic. It was a very large study guide, so he still has a couple of pages to fill out, but he is in a really good spot."
"I very much enjoyed my first meeting with the student. We read some stories and worked a little on writing skills. Mainly, this was an introductory meeting, a chance to get to know her and explore ways to channel her energy and creativity into activities that will be educationally productive."
"The student worked on a math assessment focusing on solving expressions with variables and exponents. He got 71%. We reviewed the problems that he got wrong. Next he read a passage and answered the comprehension questions."
"The student is keeping up with his studies very well this semester. He received a 90% and a 96% in his two construction midterms. He is watching physics videos before lab, which is helping to clarify some of his questions regarding the experiments. I am encouraging him to follow up with his idea of changing his business minor to a major. I believe he is fully capable of completing a double major, and this would be a smart move for his future career path."
"Student A and I worked on his Spanish terms that he needed to re-learn for the test. Using ball-passing to activate his memory, we were able to make progress on remembering colors and clothing items. Student B and I covered Spanish days of the week and months, although months will take a longer time to cement. Student C and I worked on her geography test review; she is exceedingly well prepared."
