Learning anything can be difficult, especially when one is not interested and fails to make a genuine effort. The first step is to find the beauty in knowledge. I have gone through this transition and can relate to someone who has difficulty learning weather it originates from lack of interest or inability to understand concepts using conventional methods. I, as a visual and conceptual learner, find myself able to study and learn more effectively if I manipulate what I am learning to fit my preferences and I can help and I am willing to help one learn how to do this.I am a senior at the University of Texas at Dallas and I will be graduating in Spring 2016. I have completed my B.S. degree in Biology and am currently working on a B.S. degree in Neuroscience. I will enter either pharmacy school at UT or medical school after I graduate. I have been tutoring since high school, starting out in mathematics. In college I tutored in mathematics, biology, chemistry and even standardized tests such as the PCAT and MCAT. I also have work experience in revising and writing questions for these tests. Lastly, I am a TA for anatomy and physiology at my university and this has been my favorite teaching experience. My favorite subjects to tutor are math (anything from geometry and SAT math to calculus) and science- particularly biology and chemistry. I love subjects such as anatomy, neuroscience and organic chemistry, which make you form images in your mind and learn using spatial skills. I find that this is one of my strengths and it does not stop at the books. I also play sports such as soccer and football. The skill definitely helped me as a goalkeeper for high school team.I like to enjoy the good-weather-days by swimming, playing football and futball, golfing and taking walks in the park. During down times I like to play darts, build things, do some microscopy or read books on neurology and evolution. I also am a big fan of video games and can entertain myself for weeks after getting a new game. I also love music as I have been playing the tuba and the snare since middle school. I especially like to play on my drum set whenever I come home for a few days. I have always loved being an athlete and I exercise regularly (my favorite workout is none other than the deadlift!) I enjoy nature and love going camping, taking hikes and boating. I am also an animal enthusiast, as my childhood dream was to become a zoologist and a marine biologist; I still hope to fight for conservation in Africa and South America after I am seasoned in my profession. My long term goal is to contribute to the effort to find causes/cures for many neuro-degenerative diseases as well as neural/psychotic disorders and in the field of neuroscience in general as it purely fascinates me.

I am a passionate, articulate and committed tutor who has served as a tutor for biology, and mathematics for the last five years. I tutor in all levels of mathematics and have in-depth expertise in biology.Over the last five years, my clients have ranged from elementary school to college students. As a qualified and certified tutor, I constantly aspire to help my students understand the logic, and content of the subject matter, while also being able to comprehend the complexity of the subject matter. Most importantly, I am passionate about helping my students succeed in any way that I can. I begin every tutoring session by gaining an understanding of the current knowledge of the student, and gradually building on that knowledge. In this process, I present information in an organized manner, with lesson plans, as well as suggested reading material and other assignments, as needed.I also offer test preparation tutoring, mostly on the biology section of the MCAT and all sections of the LSAT. If you have a specific section or topic you are struggling with, I can certainly help.I truly believe that anyone can understand mathematics, biology and excel on graduate exams, and I am here to help do that, by serving as an excellent tutor.

I graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 2013 with a degree in Music Education. I spent the entire next academic year tutoring math full-time at Lawrence High School in Lawrence, MA, as part of Match Education's "Match Corps." I am currently pursuing graduate studies at Tufts University. In addition to tutoring (privately as well as with Match Corps), I have experience leading classrooms of elementary to high school aged students, in schools ranging from New Hampshire to Ghana. I love tutoring students in math, test preparation, and music. I believe that education is the most essential element in any society, and feel privileged to be pursuing it as a career. Students enjoy my tutoring style and feel comfortable asking questions and pushing their own cognitive limits. Lessons are generally planned and scaffolded, adhering to an individualized curriculum often aligned with the student's school curriculum (as understood through communication with his/her teacher(s)). Open discussion and free exploration of the topic at hand are always encouraged.

I am a humorist, so please don't take my stern photo too seriously!I love mathematics, logic, probability, machine learning, decision making, and non-empirical theories of everything... But that should not intimidate you! I have extensive experience teaching Undergraduates in a variety of subject areas (by the time you read this, I will probably be again teaching in person courses at a University concurrently). Before I get too deep into me... I expect to focus my efforts on general college level mathematics, probability/statistics/decision making (SOA/CAS P Exam qualified), computer science, and data science/machine learning/AI (not robotics other than decision making). If you are studying at a Freshman/Sophomore Undergraduate level or preparing for College, I can meet you at your level at anything I am listed as qualified for. Upperclassmen should ask and the answer will be yes in some areas and no in others! But ask!Personally, I have a BA in Computer Science (Honors) and an MSci in Computational Finance (Honors), areas in which I have published in Academic journals. This prepared me for most recently teaching College Engineering Mathematics (Calculus, Linear Algebra) at a German University (I speak German and can teach in German or Spanish, but I am American and English is my first language). As indicated, I am suited to teach any of a variety of Computer Science related topics as well. (Ask!)I previously received a BA/MA in Philosophy, from prestigious programs, where I concentrated on Mathematical Logic and (what is now considered) Machine Learning. In these programs, I taught Logic, Probability, Inference, and English Composition. This time also infected me with a keen interest in theoretical foundations for Computer Science, Data Science, and Mathematics/Logic.Again, I encourage you to ask me whether I can help you with a topic. In general, I often can't meet a students needs when they are very technical-topic specific or otherwise very specialized mathematical areas... If you need a tutor for the Go programming language, you can probably find somebody, but I am not that person (I do everything I can in Python and its libraries, but know Java/C++/SQL and others, e.g. a bit of Prolog, R/SAS. I also web-scraped the World Factbook to build geo.atheoryof.us)... but just ask and I will help you find your way!

CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant Tutor • +8 Subjects
I have completed my doctoral degree in education from Grand Canyon University, EdD. I have received two master's degrees: an MBA-Finance and an MA in Adult Education. My undergraduate degree was in nursing science. I have been tutoring students for over thirty years, preparing each to pass standardized tests for entry into a healthcare profession. Being the only child and coming from a very poor environment, I learned the opportunities that having an education can provide for you and your family. Education improved the quality of my life and my family. As a creative and innovative educator, leader, and professional administrator, I thrive on challenges and change. Nurturing and encouraging the lifelong learning of students is critical in the role of an educator. Techniques like case studies, activities, discussions, and even humor can prompt students to think critically, creatively, and explore their natural curiosity. As an educator, students will feel that no question is too silly to ask. My educational beliefs are based on the fact that learning is a possibility for everyone. Learning occurs when the educator is able to link, in the brain, a bridge from the lack of knowledge to new knowledge, then the student comprehends.
