My life's work has been and continues to be assisting students in building confidence while exploring the wonders of language and mathematics. Whether it be Algebra, ACT preparation, or English for non-native speakers, I have enjoyed my 20+ years working with students both in the U.S. and abroad (China & India). I have tutored students as young as Pre-K, but most of my experience lies with high school, university & adult students. For those seeking assistance with the ACT, I have several years of experience tutoring all subjects - content & strategies. With the changes in the ACT last year (science optional, shorter subject tests with differing times), I decided to take the new Enhanced ACT with hundreds of high school students to gain first-hand experience with how the alterations might affect test strategy and gauge any changes in content. My split focus affected the science score most (:D), but I look forward to sharing my newly gained insights with my students.

I graduated from University of Houston with a bachelors in business management and entrepreneurship, and a minor in French. Throughout high school, I was a teacher's assistant for math and English and a peer mentor for students in all subjects. Since graduating, I have tutored private clients for standardized tests, such as the ACT and GRE. In addition to one-on-one tutoring, I have also tutored small groups of kids around my neighborhood. I trained with the Keystone Science School of Denver, Colorado, the LSU Coastal Roots Program and have earned over six hundred hours in science literacy training in many areas. I tutor any math class from middle school to undergraduate, and I also excel with test prep (SAT, GRE, etc.). I have a passion for reading, writing, and film and I am currently taking an online graduate course in TV writing with UCLA. The subjects I tutor in include essay editing, writing, and reading comprehension (i.e. anything pertaining to writing and english.) My tutoring style is collaboration based and tailored to each student's individual learning style. I have first hand experience with how frustrating it can be to get lost in a classroom and feel like you're falling behind, because you don't learn or retain information the same way as your peers, so I find it's the most beneficial to understand each student's relationship with the subject material and developing a plan from there, opposed to instilling a generalized "one size fits all" agenda.
