My success depends on your success!So many times it is difficult to find the right place to start. Let's start with the basics. Many students begin to think "I just don't get it!," or "I can't do it!" They mentally block their chances to learn. In reality, frustration controls your thought process and you simply give up. Most of the time, I discover that my students are missing the basic steps from an earlier lesson that can help them find the answer. Once we uncover what we don't know, we can begin to understand what we need to know. As your tutor, we will break each lesson down into a series of small steps to help you understand the concept and not to simply find the answer and move on. We will work together to help you store each step in your memory, practice, and then solve. Once you begin to feel confident and solve on your own by a series of small steps, what used to be difficult will become easy!

Both my parents are retired teachers which made education a very highly valued subject in our home when I was growing up. During my undergraduate years at Miami University where I achieved a Bachelor's Degree in Science as well as my time in medical school at Rush University Medical College where I will soon receive my Doctorate of Medicine, I have tutored fellow students as a way to help out as well as a way for me to stay sharp with tricky subjects. I believe that teaching is the best way to reinforce knowledge and master material. We all learn in different ways and I think that identifying our strengths and weaknesses as learners can help us succeed as well as know when to ask for help. Certain subjects and the methods by which they are delivered may not fit the learning style that best serves you - this is where I feel tutors can provide assistance in order to keep up your confidence and progress. I greatly enjoy teaching and tutoring in the biological and physical sciences, many levels of math, and Spanish. Also,I have taken many standardized examinations on my way to medical school and tutor in ACT, GRE and MCAT test preparation. Teaching and singing are my passions; training and coaching public speakers and performing artists my expertise. I grew up with a musician and a frequent public speaker for parents, ending up with strong talents in both. I enjoy telling people, "I majored in talking and enjoy a career as a vocalist, which is basically talking with notes and rhythms attached!" Studying communication gave me a solid foundation for engaging with and listening to the (often unspoken) needs of others. I get great joy from helping others reach their goals and overcome their presentation fears which often block their success. I believe every person has the capacity to learn and grow skills at any pinnacle of life. My philosophy includes the strong belief that gentle honesty is the kindest offering to be given to anyone, particular to persons putting themselves up for public scrutiny or digest as performing artists or public speakers. My motto is "I'm here to believe in you and help you improve.

I am a graduate of the arts management master’s program at George Mason University and winner of the Capstone of the Year award for excellence in research, writing, and presentation of the capstone thesis project. I have a history of working in accessibility and research in the arts and am interested in creating dialogues on the ways in which the arts—and the ways our businesses and government support the arts—are an essential component of our everyday lives. To quote Jane Chu, “Although many may not realize it, the arts actively intersect with areas such as the economy, human development, and community vitality. The arts and artists are an integral part of the solution to the challenges we face in all parts of our society.”I am also interested in international arts policy, having visited over 25 countries while living and working abroad for more than four years. I am passionate about exploring the ways that the arts can unite disparate cultures and communities.I previously served with AmeriCorps*National Civilian Community Corps: Southwest Region, focusing on disaster relief and community development, and later spent three years working internationally with underserved students.

I am a MIT undergrad studying Materials Science and Engineering with minors in Economics and Japanese. I was a TA for Physics II: Electricity and Magnetism at MIT, and I tutored in math and science in high school. I scored a perfect score on the SAT Math section twice, and have taken 11 AP tests with an average score of 4.7. I believe the best way to learn math is through challenging problems, and gaining confidence in yourself when you find that you understand those problems. I am passionate about learning, and I hope I can share that passion with you!

After 40 years of teaching experience I have consolidated my own teaching philosophy, which, in essence, is: " Encourage students' learning by dividing them into study groups dealing with micro theses related to syllabus topics. A problem to be solved should be in the center of each micro thesis. Solve the problem and represent the solution by employing the proper technology. Specify the contribution of each student within a certain group. At the beginning of each semester make clear to students the proportion of this job towards other course requirements." This teaching philosophy associated with the relevant techniques and other psychological and pedagogical considerations is described in my recent book titled "The theory and the practice of teaching", published in 2012 in Albanian language.
