Certified Tutor
I am a freshman undergraduate at New York University, pursuing majors in Romance Languages and Environmental studies. My interest in languages started from a young age, as I grew up speaking Russian, Italian, and English at home. I later picked up Spanish starting in middle school and Latin in high school. Because I grew up with Italian, I'm very comfortable with romance languages and their grammar structures. I've also had experience tutoring in Spanish for Tic Talk Spanish- an after school Spanish learning program for kids in elementary school- and tutoring ESOL students through my high school's AP Spanish program. Teaching languages is particularly interesting because there's so many different ways to go about it. While some students learn better by studying and memorizing verb endings, others might prefer picking it up through practice. There are also so many ways to immerse yourself in a new language. From movies, to books, to music, there are many ways to keep practicing the language at home. I think that with languages, it's especially important to continue reinforcing the material you've learned. My comfort with Spanish and Italian and my flexibility as a tutor have enabled me to be successful in tutoring these languages. Another passion of mine is environmental policy, and I am also pursuing a major in Environmental Studies at NYU. Along with a passion for combatting climate change, I enjoy hiking, reading, exploring the city and its museums, and embroidery.
