After growing up in Southwest Florida, I attended Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio from which I earned a B.A. in History with a minor in Religion. I then attended The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received an M.A. in Teaching Secondary Social Studies. After graduation, I returned to South Florida and taught at the high school level for ten years. While in the high school, I taught all levels of World History, including Advanced Placement (with a career 80% passing rate for my students), and theatre and co-sponsored several organizations like the National Honor Society, International Thespian Society, and Model United Nations. Although well-versed in a number of subjects, I truly enjoy World History and examining the connections between the past and present and what that means for our global future. I believe that education is a fundamental right and that a quality education is the key to life-long success. In my spare time, I enjoy attending the theatre, reading, hiking, and watching classic television and films.
