Tutoring review by Jamie in Eudora, KS
During this session I briefly added some new vocabulary words for the student so we can work on enriching her vocabulary (per communication from her English teacher at school) but we spent the rest of the session reviewing for a math test focused on fractions that she would have the next day. We used a review packet from school supplemented by some practice problems that I generated during the session.

The student has a big couple of weeks ahead of him so we are pushing hard through several chapters of history. The good thing is the student really likes history. He has 5 homework assignments between now and next Tuesday; a 2-week quiz next Tuesday, a chapter test the following day, Wednesday, and an in-class essay assignment immediately after, on Thursday. He is going to push for the opportunity to do the essay assignment at home. At this point, however, we don't know the details of that assignment, so it's all tentative. He wrote several very good, thorough sentences today without prompting, which needed no advice or correction from me. I am so thrilled with this!! He is also improving at finding information using section and paragraph headings, which, previously, he would not have noticed. Overall he's doing quite well.

Tutoring review by Carolyn in Eudora, KS
Our session today focused on the second and third chapters of the student's assigned book, "The Founding Brothers." Together, we discussed the main political issues that each chapter raised - namely, the Dinner Party Compromise (between Alexander Hamilton, Thomas Jefferson, and James Madison) on the location of the new American nation's capitol city and the passage of Hamilton's crucial federal debt plan. She then summarized these ideas together to draft a concluding paragraph for each chapter.

Tutoring review by Hamid in Eudora, KS
The student is preparing for her geometry final next week. We covered theorems and postulates such as SSS, ASA, and AAS to understand triangles. We reviewed all aspects of angle theory such as complementary, supplementary, adjacent, etc. Her focus and attitude were very positive and receptive. We have another session next week, but I let her know that she should call me if she has any questions related to her upcoming final.

We worked on simplifying and solving equations using radicals. We then solved equations with square roots and cube roots. We also solved equations with fractional powers and simplified. Finally, we talked about extraneous solutions and how to check for them.
