Recent Legal Research Tutoring Session Notes
We went over some SAT test taking strategies. Some of the problems were a bit tough, but the student did very well. Just takes some practice learning the strategies and when to use them.
I also enjoyed helping her with some Spanish!
Spent the day reviewing for physics, mainly focusing on kinematics, vectors, projectile motion, and Newton's laws. In doing so, we went through difficult, integrative problems by having the girls attempt them first, and then helping them along if necessary. An extensive review homework assignment was given, which we will discuss on our last tutoring session this coming Friday.
I met with Student 1and 2 starting at 10:05am until approximately 12:30pm. We first went over essay strategies and ways of improving their written prompts. We followed that with a little bit of English section strategies since that section needs the greatest attention now. They have been assigned a test to complete before Wednesday and we will revisit Science and Math section strategies.
The student and I went over dividing fractions. She seemed to have a very strong grasp of the topic. While she seemed at ease with doing her work the long way, I am hoping that over time I will be able to get her to understand the concept of cross-cancellation. She started having a stronger understanding towards the end of our session, so I think that teaching her this concept is feasible over our time working together.
Today we covered Direct Object Pronouns and Indirect Object Pronouns. We also went over the HW from the last class and reviewed some irregular verbs in past tense (preterito). In addition to this, we went over the rules of the conjugation of the verb gustar and those that are similar to it. To conclude, we discussed some cultural readings about the Caribbean, read a poem and discuss it until the last minute.
Finished the rest of his packet. Started reviewing equations and when to use each. I took a picture of all his equations and then finish reviewing them with him Tuesday.
