We've had the BEST experience with VT! Our tutor has helped my middle schoolers math grades come up from a D to an A for our 8th grader and from a D to a B for my 6th grader. I'm beyond pleased with how she connected with my boys.

Tutoring review by Mualla in Frankfort, IL
He will have a test on rational functions, graphing rational functions and direct variation soon. We have reviewed the packet that consists of the test topics. The student reviewed graphing rational functions and he has explained asymptotes, x-int, y-int, domain and range of the functions correctly without any explanation. He is good at graphing rational functions. They are allowed to use calculators on the test and he knows how to use a calculator to graph, find the asymptotes and also x-int, y-int. After that we worked on simplifying rational function by multiplying and dividing them. On those problems, I told him that he needs to remember factoring all polynomials before he starts simplifying. Last, we went over direct variation problems. At the end of the our session we went over all formulas and methods by question and answer. He will go over the review pack and notes one more time before he takes the test.

We went through several lessons of the student's online geometry course. Specifically covering perpendicular bisectors, median, and midpoints of triangles as well as some vocabulary concepts. Took a hands on approach, went though each problem encouraging him to complete the problem on his own and assisting if necessary. His geometry grade is improving! Good session!

For this session, I worked with both students on their organizational skills. Both of their school binders were very messy, and several papers had been misplaced. After that, I worked with the first student on reviewing vocabulary from last week, as well as the parts of speech and their function. Then, we began discussing the elements of fiction. The second student read aloud for the final 15 minutes.
