Mississauga Drawing Tutoring FAQ
Art tutoring can offer many benefits to an individual, whether they are a child, teenager, adult, or professional. You may want to explore your creative side, but aren't sure of where to even begin. Maybe you need to learn the fundamentals of drawing in order to prepare for a career in architecture, design, or drafting. If you're a parent, you may be interested in fostering your child's interest in art on an individualized basis, rather than through a one-size-fits-all school setting. Regardless of your choice, personalized drawing tutoring can be a great way to get involved in creativity without feeling dampened by a traditional setting. It is common for students in an art class at school to feel as though they can't develop their own creativity, typically due to the variety of mediums that art classes delve into during the semester- or year-long course. A personal tutor can focus on the art you want to create, while teaching you the fundamentals that you should know as you begin your artistic journey.
Varsity Tutors can help you to connect with a personal drawing tutor that can teach to your learning style while focusing on the techniques and strategies that you need to know to accomplish your goals. The educational directors will help you create a personal student profile that allows tutors in your area, as well as all over the world, to offer their assistance. They can view your learning style, goals, any course you may be taking, upcoming projects, and other details. These allow them to create a basis for a personalized tutoring plan that can keep you focused and on track. Your personal tutor can provide instant feedback on your techniques to ensure that you don't pick up any bad habits.
A drawing tutor can help you pick up skills and develop proper technique, whether you're enjoying retirement or pursuing a career in graphic design. While drawing comes more naturally to some, it's a skill anyone can master with the right direction and proper exercises. Varsity Tutors can help you connect with a drawing tutor who can catch you up on the history of drawing and its techniques, as well as provide exercises to expand your skill and practice key aspects of drawing. A talented tutor can walk you through each aspect of drawing, from sketching and developing light and shadow, to more complex techniques like perspective, foreshortening, and proportion. Drawing is as technical as it is artistic, and a tutor can help you master both aspects on paper.
Success in drawing, whether in a class or as a hobby, requires knowledge of various materials, from charcoal and graphite to ink brush and colored pencil. Some materials are more forgiving than others, but all have learning curves. A personal instructor can expose you to the world of materials and demonstrate how each can be used expressively and technically. In addition, different mediums require various papers, from the transparent to the rough, which equally demand proper technique. If you find yourself frustrated with materials, or having to throw away expensive papers, you might benefit greatly from a tutor's help.
Even if your end goal isn't drawing itself, and you're more interested in painting, architecture, or design, developing drafting skills is essential. Even in the digital age, it's important to develop your ideas through sketching and drawing, whether it's with a pencil and paper or a digital tablet or mouse. Tutoring can help you brainstorm ideas, slowly and methodically develop concepts, and refine your shape and line until you can produce something you're truly happy with.

Recent Mississauga Drawing Tutoring Session Notes
Today we continued with math, but worked instead with quantitative mathematics. The student took a few quizzes by herself and then we together looked over what she got wrong and why. We also reviewed every section of mathematics that she proved to not be as efficient in and went over tips to do when writing a good essay. She is going to look over the English part of the test (synonyms section) tonight. We decided tomorrow it would be best if she took the first half of the exam as if it were the real thing and then went over what she got wrong.
Great session though; we both felt like a lot was accomplished!
The student and I primarily worked on his reading comprehension and Spanish. He stated that his math class was manageable currently, and that he was all caught up with his homework.
I walked through the plot and characters of the first three chapters of "Of Mice and Men" with him. He understood a good amount of the plot. I asked him questions about the personalities of the primary characters, their relationships, and the plotline. He obviously has read the book and is retaining a good deal.
For Spanish, I reviewed question words with him from last week, and then continued to build on introductions, saying where you are from, and some basic grammar. He is picking up on it well, and after more repetition, he'll have a good foundation upon which to build.
We continued covering Organic Chemistry from the prep book. Today, we went over reactions involving esters, carboxylic acids, anhydrides, ketones, and aldehydes. Furthermore, we started going over practice passages from practice tests. This seems to be beneficial for the student so we will begin working together on passages from now.
Reviewed previous lessons at first, and then went over several different problems that involved the basic dosage calculation of (dosage ordered/supply dosage)(supply on hand)=Dosage amount (# of tablets, or mL delivered via IV, etc.).
The student and I met for the first tutoring session. We talked about her school and her class subjects, and she would like some help with math as well as studying for her other subject exams. We reviewed her math problems in preparation for her test this week (percent changes), and we talked about study methods for her history exam.
We went over SAT Vocabulary and worked on the Spanish preterite tense, Spanish technology vocabulary, affirmative and negative expressions, and a review again of -ar, -er/-ir verbs and their conjugations.
