I have a bachelors degree in biology and a masters degree in secondary education. I am a very passionate, understanding, and patient person who enjoys helping my students to succeed. Being a teacher has allowed me to experience and teach a wide range of learners. I have experience with the AP biology exam and have even assisted in teaching AP biology.

I am a medical student and graduate with bachelor of science in biology. I have years of experience teaching students from ages 12 and up in reading, writing and math. I primarily tutor middle/high school math, but also have expertise in higher level mathematics and science. I believe in encouragement of the student, spaced repetition, and application of knowledge into the real world.

I have been working in education for the past eighteen years. I have tutored a variety of subjects ranging from elementary school to high school.My area of concentration is mathematics however, I am state certified in the state of Texas to teach all subjects grades 4-8. I also have an ESL certification.There is nothing better than seeing a child finally understand a concept! Being able to make impact on a young persons life is my driving force.It is my belief that all children can and want to learn. Learning is the avenue to opportunities. It is my job to provide access points to children in order for them to grasp the information.My background in education, helps me to scaffold material while presenting lessons in creative ways. A tutor should not only be there to help students faced with a difficult problem or concept, but a good tutor should encourage and motivate students to overcome obstacles and help students stay on track.When tutoring students, I always try to teach not just the answer but the method to get the answer. I believe that the method of obtaining the answer is more important than the answer itself.Growing up, I was tutored through middle school in Math and English. I know the importance of having a strong tutor. I have experience as a teacher as part of the ADVENT organization where I spent three summers on mission trips to Taiwan teaching local students. I enjoy playing sports, spending time with family and friends, and eating different foods.

As a teenager, I experienced just about as much academic failure as anyone. I know how much it hurts to struggle to get good grades. Around the age of 23, I discovered that the right environment made all the difference. I started working in a hospital and fell in love with medicine. Since then I've experienced a string of successes that I could have never imagined. I'll be graduating from the Ivy League this spring; I've worked in numerous prestigious hospitals and laboratories, but, most importantly, I've found a love for learning.My love for learning and experience with failure is what sets me apart from many of my peers. I've found that the resiliency needed to succeed through adversity requires a positive vision of the potential ahead. In my previous tutoring experiences, this is what I have projected onto my tutees. It's always netted a more successful and confident student.In my most recent experiences, I've discovered that the idea of talent or inherent intelligence is a myth. My fellow students are similar enough in academic ability, but what differentiates one student from another is the commitment to their respective studies. Thus, I try to demonstrate to my tutees by example that being a committed student doesn't need to be painful. It can be simple and fun. However, patience and compassion is crucial in guiding a tutee as they learn this invaluable lesson. The result pays for itself when a student can ultimately solve problems on their own and discover the tricks to build confidence.
