My son has ADHD, Anxiety, Dyslexia AND a learning disability. He's always attended private schools for learning disabled children, but when we had to move, public school and an IEP were the only option. I called VT in desperation because he was failing across the board and was so distressed. I know he just needed the right environment in order to thrive. After a couple tearful sessions with the VERY PATIENT tutor, my son began to "get it". Once he did, there was no stopping him!

Your student may struggle with these types of skills when they have trouble with executive function. They might have trouble getting organized, completing certain tasks, or following a series of steps. They may also have trouble keeping track of time. This can manifest itself at any educational stage. Luckily, your student can receive help from Boulder tutors for students who struggle with executive function. There are many techniques that can be used to assist your student with these challenges.

Oftentimes, students with ADHD have trouble with executive function. However, there are plenty of students who have executive function difficulties who don't exhibit signs of ADHD. It's important to keep in mind that students who struggle with executive function can overcome these difficulties. They simply have a learning difference that produces certain challenges. If your student is having executive function difficulties, we can find you an effective Boulder tutor for students who struggle with executive function. Let's have a look at some of the ways that this can be beneficial for your child.

What topics can my child study with a Boulder tutor near me for students who struggle with executive function?

When your child gets involved in tutoring, they'll work with a knowledgeable mentor who understands their executive function difficulties. They can teach your student techniques for managing these challenges. If your student has a 504 Plan or an IEP, their instructor can use this to build a customized study plan for your child. The study plan is valuable because it takes into account the specific challenges that your student is having.

For instance, if your child is having trouble prioritizing their tasks, Boulder tutoring for students who struggle with executive function can assist them with that. Their instructor can work with their specific learning style to enable them to gain a better perspective on how to prioritize their tasks. For example, if your student is a kinesthetic learner, their mentor can use exercises that get them up and moving to help them learn how to prioritize their tasks. Similarly, if your student is a visual learner, their instructor can use methods such as graphics and color coding to help them decide which tasks are more important than others.

Students with executive functioning difficulties often have behavioral problems in class such as outbursts and interrupting others. Boulder tutors for students who struggle with executive function can assist your student by showing them how to cope with their emotions and manage their impulsive urges. These types of difficulties can lead to a negative view of the school environment, but an instructor can help remedy this by assisting your student with the skills they need to overcome their executive function difficulties and view school in a more positive light.

How can my student benefit from Boulder tutoring for students who struggle with executive function?

One advantage of tutoring is that students can work online through the Live Learning Platform, which is an online learning tool that includes practice problems, a video chat, and a virtual whiteboard. With this tool, students can have the full attention of an empathetic mentor. Online sessions are recorded so you and your child can go back and revisit them together as many times as you want.

You can learn to model the techniques that are being used, such as creating visual guides and assisting your child through the use of checklists and board games. You can also learn ways of using your child's smartphone to help them stay organized. This is convenient because it can be done from your own living room or another location like the Meadows Branch Library. Executive Functioning Tutoring review by Rebecca in Boulder, CO
The student and I began work on her research paper, which she is doing on George Halas and the beginnings of the NFL.  When I arrived, she had two sources, and when I left she had four with one or two more possible.  The minimum is 4.  She seems really excited about the project, and she began reading two of the sources, taking notes, and thinking about her thesis.  I think we came up with something that isn't definite yet, but it will give her some parameters as far what to read for in her research. The student said she would and could read the book "Bear with Me" this weekend, which I think is a really good idea.  It's not too long, and I think the level is definitely good for her, and not too easy for her.

It also briefly touched on parallel and perpendicular slopes/lines.  We then reviewed for her next exam which covered the Segment Addition Postulate and Angle Addition Postulate.   She seems to be getting the information well.

He also had ten questions to compose for his class homework assignment.  We practiced pronunciation, and went over strategies to remember irregular verbs.

We watched an episode of the news and talked about the repercussions of certain current events. We then did a small writing game based on brainwashing (DPRK inspired) to answer the question: can people be brainwashed? We then took a short reading quiz on the next chapters of Game of Thrones and discussed the work.
