About Omaha Children's Museum
Since its inception in 1976, Omaha Children's Museum has been a special place where children can challenge themselves, discover how the world works and learn through play. The mission of Omaha Children's Museum is to engage the imagination and create excitement about learning. The museum's permanent exhibits include Charlie Campbell Science & Technology Center, Art Smart Center, Imagination Playground and Walker Tire & Auto Service Center. In addition to its permanent exhibits, Omaha Children's Museum offers educational programs, traveling exhibitions, field trips, outreach programs, summer camps and early childhood programs.
About the class
February 29 is the most unique of all holidays, appearing just once every four years…and sometimes even less than that! So let’s use this Leap Day to explore the science behind our calendar and investigate where seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, and more all come from–especially Leap Day. This live interactive class will mix curiosity, calendars, calculators, and the cosmos, so be prepared to lose track of time as we learn precisely (albeit with some fudge factor) how and why the world keeps track of time.
Meet your expert instructor, Ben
Ben Ross has a degree in Elementary Education and over five years of experience in writing and conducting scientific investigations for kids with the Omaha Children's Museum. He currently works with the museum to develop many of the educational programs including programs that the museum takes into elementary and pre-schools. Ben works to discover the best means to deliver STEM learning to children young and old through hands-on experiments and visual demonstrations.
This StarCourse is no longer available.
But don’t fret… we have more classes to choose from!
