About The National Aviary
The National Aviary is America’s only independent indoor nonprofit zoo dedicated to birds. Located in Pittsburgh, PA, the National Aviary is home to more than 500 birds that represent more than 150 species from around the world, many of them threatened or endangered in the wild.
About the class
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a zoo veterinarian? What about a zookeeper? In this live, interactive class, we’ll learn all about zoo careers and go behind the scenes to discover how the National Aviary’s expert staff provide high-quality care to more than 500 animals!
Meet your instructor, Jenn.
Jenn Torpie is the Curator of Education & Public Programs at the National Aviary. She has worked in zoos since 2007 and delights in sharing her curiosity about the natural world and passion for conservation with people of all ages. Her favorite birds are cassowary and Eurasian eagle owls.
