About the Catskill Animal Sanctuary
Catskill Animal Sanctuary is a 150-acre refuge in New York’s Hudson Valley for 11 species of farmed animals rescued from cruelty, neglect and abandonment. The sanctuary's mission is to rescue farmed animals, ignite social change to end their exploitation, and champion vegan living.
Over the years, thousands have come to this place of profound peace. They continue to come — sometimes one needy soul, sometimes a flock of 100 or more at a time. It is the sanctuary's privilege to help each and every rescued animal understand what love feels like. But its history is about more than repairing broken bodies, broken spirits, and broken fencing; it also reflects its growing recognition that a massive societal shift to plant-based living is not only a moral imperative, it’s essential to our very survival.
The sanctuary's signature programs — the Tours and Tastings, Compassionate Cuisine, and Youth Education programs — have been created to hasten this shift and, today, Catskill Animal Sanctuary is proud to be one of the world’s leading teaching sanctuaries.
About the class
2021 is Catskill Animal Sanctuary's 20th anniversary! In this live, interactive class, we'll meet some of the rescued residents of the sanctuary and learn how they've helped thousands of chickens, goats, cows, pigs, and other animals over the past two decades — and how you, too, can help save animals.
Meet your instructor, Lauren.
Lauren Barbieri, Youth Programs Manager, first visited Catskill Animal Sanctuary in July 2015. This experience led her to veganism and, in February 2017, to joining the team. Now, Lauren helps kids of all ages tap into their innate senses of compassion, fairness, and justice to create a kinder world for all.
The Wildlife Creature Camp
