I am a graduate of Spelman College, where I received my Bachelor's degree in History, with a Spanish minor, magna cum laude. I was also inducted into The Phi Beta Kappa Society. After college, I was a Fulbright Scholar to Spain, where I taught a variety of subjects in English at a bilingual secondary school in Madrid.
After completing my Fulbright, I returned to the United States to attend Tulane University Law School. After graduating from law school, I worked in a variety of legal roles, including as a housing discrimination investigator, federal judicial law clerk, civil rights attorney, prosecutor, and policy advisor. I currently work at a nonprofit in a non-attorney role. I am active and licensed to practice law in Illinois and Maryland, and possess additional Bar memberships in good standing in Alabama and Florida.
As a tutor, I have worked with students from ages 11 onward on a variety of subjects, including working with young non-native English speakers to improve their English skills; tutoring high school students in American and World History; and working with law students on a variety of topics, including criminal and constitutional law. I have also worked with students across grades and schools to improve their critical reading and writing skills. While I enjoy tutoring in all the subjects on which I have worked, I am especially fond of working with students on History, writing, and law because these subjects directly align with the focuses of my academic career and I enjoy sharing my passion with others.
I believe that education should be interactive and enjoyable, and I aim to foster a supportive learning environment where students feel empowered to explore their subjects deeply and find ways to incorporate their learnings into their everyday lives.
