Certified Tutor

I'm a student at Washington University in St Louis where I intend to major in Psychology and Neuroscience. Since I was in grade school, I've loved tutoring peers and younger students. I like talking through a problem and seeing the pride in a student's achievement when they master a new skill. While in high school I was a member of my school's Academic Decathlon team that twice won our division at Nationals, and part of my role on the team was teaching math concepts to help fellow teammates lift their scores. I discovered how finding different approaches to suit specific learning styles led to greater understanding and success. When tutoring I work hard to communicate concepts in a way that makes learning fun and approachable, and getting to know students helps me find ways to inspire them to engage with the material. Some of my other interests include strategic games, sports, and music. These help me find common ground with people looking for help learning math (entry level to algebra, statistics, and probability) and English. Besides being a tutor, I've been a golf coach, a baseball coach, and a lifeguard.
