Chelsea: Lemont tutor
Certified Tutor
Driven by a deep commitment to making a positive impact in students' lives, I am passionate about helping learners discover their strengths and achieve their goals. My experience spans over seven years in education, working with students from diverse backgrounds and ability levels in both classroom and one-on-one settings. I specialize in middle school reading, language arts, science, and math, and have extensive experience supporting students with special needs through individualized instruction and collaborative problem-solving.
I earned my Master's in Special Education and Bachelor's in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Cincinnati, which provided a strong foundation in evidence-based teaching and inclusive practices. Throughout my career, I have developed and implemented engaging lesson plans, integrated technology to enhance learning, and collaborated with parents and educators to ensure each student receives the support they need.
My favorite subjects to tutor are reading and language arts because I love helping students build confidence in their communication skills and discover the joy of storytelling and critical thinking. I also enjoy tutoring science and math, especially when I can connect abstract concepts to real-world applications that spark curiosity and engagement.
My teaching philosophy centers on meeting students where they are and adapting my approach to fit their unique learning styles. I strive to create a supportive, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable taking risks and celebrating their progress. My tutoring style is patient, flexible, and interactiveI believe learning should be both challenging and enjoyable.
Outside of academia, I enjoy exploring new technology, coding, and staying active in my community. I am dedicated to lifelong learning and bring creativity, empathy, and a strong work ethic to every tutoring session. My goal is to help each student grow in confidence and independence, equipping them with the tools they need for long-term success.

Outside of teaching and tutoring, I enjoy exploring creative outlets like writing, crafting, and playing video games—especially those that involve strategy or storytelling. I find that gaming helps sharpen my problem-solving skills and keeps me connected to what many students are passionate about. I’m also a big fan of reading, learning new tech tools, and finding fun ways to make learning more engaging for all types of learners.
