Sonal: Burr Ridge tutor
Certified Tutor
I am currently a Computer Science student at Virginia Tech with a minor in Mathematics. I've worked with students (K-12) from a variety of backgrounds and skill levels. I know how overwhelming school can get, and I really enjoy helping people feel more confident in their work.
Since 2020, I've been involved with the GIVE Youth organization, which provides free tutoring and educational support to underprivileged students. I began as a tutor helping multiple students with homework and tough subjects.
In summer 2023, I also interned at the Children's Science Center STEM Summer Camp, where I spent over 60 hours leading hands-on STEM activities and teaching lessons about topics like Newton's Laws, pillbug behavior, and balloon car mechanics. It was a super fun and engaging way to show students how science works in real life.
I tutor subjects like math, chemistry, computer science, and test prep, and my favorites are definitely programming and algebra. I like these areas because once the logic clicks, everything starts to make sense, and I love being there when that "aha" moment happens. When I tutor, I try to keep things chill and simple. I meet students where they are at, figure out how they learn best, and adjust the way I explain topics until it actually makes sense to them. I am all about helping people really understand the why behind what they're learning.

Outside of academics, I love staying creative and active through dance, cooking, and personal coding projects. I’ve been passionate about dance for years, as it is a fun way for me to express myself and stay connected to my culture. I also enjoy experimenting in the kitchen and trying out new recipes when I get the chance. On the tech side, I like working on small coding projects just for fun, whether that’s building a website or exploring new tools and languages to sharpen my skills.
