Certified Tutor
Hi! I'm a dedicated and passionate tutor specializing in reading comprehension, essay writing, creative writing, English, and social studies for students from early grade school through high school. With a background in political science and international studies, and a deep love for creative expression ranging from fiction to poetry, I bring both academic strength and a personal enthusiasm for the humanities into every tutoring session.
Whether it's helping a student craft a compelling essay, unravel a piece of literature, or better understand historical context, my goal is to make complex ideas approachable and even enjoyable. I have extensive experience with literary analysis, research-based writing, and history papers, and I'm committed to helping each student find their voice and confidence in their work.
Over the years, I've worked one-on-one with children ages 4-12 in a variety of instructional roles, which taught me how important it is to meet students where they are. I tailor my approach to each learner's needs, learning style, and pace - making sure that every session supports both skill-building and curiosity. I believe confidence in the aforementioned areas have a lot to do with feeling as if you have the right strategies or tools in your back pocket.
If you're looking for a tutor who can bring clarity, creativity, and individualized support to the humanities, I'd love to help you or your child grow academically and enjoy the process along the way.

As for a bit more about me, I’m often immersed in storytelling in one form or another. I’m a lifelong reader with a particular love for science fiction. I'm drawn to the genre’s ability to explore broad human questions through imaginative and sometimes futuristic worlds. From anything by Madelinne Miller or Kristin Hannah, to classics by Dickens, I find inspiration in stories with societal overtones that coincide with my academic work. Writing is another major part of my life. I often pursue freelance journalism, where I focus on crafting compelling narratives about real-world issues. It’s an outlet that combines my passion for research with accessible thought-sharing. Not to mention, staying up to date with current events ; local and global. Less serious forms of literary engagement for me are writing creatively or getting lost in the comic world. Particularly DC, as an extraordinarily intricate and thrilling web of storylines. Music is a quieter interest of mine, but growing up playing the piano has given me a space to find expression off of a page. Trying new recipes and jogging along the river are equally as enjoyable activities in my life despite less relevance to the humanities. Many of my interests feed into the way I approach tutoring ; with creativity used to tailor lessons to individual students' learning styles, enthusiasm to convey that reading and writing can indeed be fun instead of a dredging or difficult task, and absolute patience.
