I have earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with a minor in mathematics from Brigham Young University. I then earned a master's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Utah. My subject area for my master's degree was solid and biomechanics. I was a mathematics tutor in the Mathematics Laboratory at BYU for four years. I helped students with algebra, trigonometry, precalculus, calculus one, calculus two, multivariable calculus, linear algebra, and ordinary differential equations. I tutored individuals and groups of students in that setting. During my graduate degree at the University of Utah, I was a teaching assistant for undergraduate and graduate mechanical engineering courses, including Statics, Mechanics of Materials, Advanced Mechanics of Materials, and Biomechanics. I enjoy helping others understand new concepts and procedures. It is satisfying to see another person's problem-solving ability and knowledge grow. I like knowing that I helped my students gain a new tool to use when faced with different challenges both in and out of the classroom. I will try any approach or explanation to help my students understand and succeed. I also believe in being with the students as they put in the time and work with the different topics and problems to help them understand and internalize the proper methods for success in a course. I firmly believe that any student can succeed with the right approach and by putting in enough time and effort. I tutor College Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus, Multivariable Calculus, Linear Algebra, Ordinary Differential Equations, Engineering Statics, Strength of Materials, and Mechanics of Materials. I may be rusty, but I am willing to try helping with almost any high school or entry-level math and science courses. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, playing board games and video games, reading, cooking, Lego, building model kits, and all types of making and creating.
