Helen: South Holland tutor
Certified Tutor
Hello! My name is Helen, and I'm passionate about helping students build confidence, curiosity, and clarity in their learning. I hold graduate degrees in Psychology (Yale University) and Neuroscience & Education (Columbia University) and have over seven years of experience conducting and teaching research on memory, attention, and learning, both in the classroom and in the lab.
My tutoring style is supportive, engaging, and highly personalized. I believe that effective learning starts with understanding how each student thinks, where their strengths lie, and what kind of guidance will help them thrive. Whether we're tackling research methods, academic writing, or challenging coursework, my goal is to make the process approachable and even enjoyable!
I've worked with students from all backgrounds. I'm especially passionate about mentoring students who may feel unsure about their abilities at first; I've seen firsthand how much can change with the right support and encouragement.
If you're looking for a tutor who will meet you where you are and help you get to where you want to be, with patience, precision, and a sense of purpose, I'd be honored to work with you!

Outside of academics, I’m an avid reader and love anything related to storytelling, whether it’s literature, podcasts, or film. I also enjoy long walks with a good audiobook, exploring local art and history museums, and learning new languages. Lately, I’ve been diving into creative writing and finding new ways to make complex ideas accessible and engaging for broader audiences.
