Kelly: Brookline tutor
Certified Tutor
As a dedicated educator with a Bachelor of Arts in Speech and Language Pathology and a Master of Arts in Special Education (Learning Behavior Specialist) for ages prekindergarten through 22, I bring a comprehensive and empathetic approach to tutoring.
My passion for incorporating social-emotional learning skills into academic success stems from the belief that education is not just about acquiring knowledge but also about developing the whole person. By integrating these vital skills, I help students not only excel academically but also thrive personally.
My experience spans over 15 years in special education, where I've had the privilege of working with diverse learners, helping them overcome barriers to success. I specialize in tutoring Reading, English Language Arts, and Social Emotional Skills, with a particular fondness for English Language Arts. This subject opens worlds, allowing students to explore expressions, cultures, and deep inner work, which aligns perfectly with my holistic educational philosophy.
My teaching philosophy centers on the idea that education should empower students. My tutoring style is adaptive, focusing on meeting each student's unique needs while fostering an environment of patience and support to encourage self-confidence and independence.
Outside of academia, I enjoy spending time in nature, writing poetry, trying teas of all flavors, and being a plant mom. These interests not only enrich my own life but also inspire my teaching, bringing a sense of creativity and balance to my approach.
I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to help students achieve their full potential and eager to bring my skills and passion to Varsity Tutors.
