Emily: South Elgin tutor
Certified Tutor
My passion to teach and better our future generations has done nothing but grow. I have worked with students from all different backgrounds such as; teaching kindergartners how to read, leading church lessons, substituting grades 6-9, and working with students in the foster care system.
My education journey truly started when I graduated from High School early in December 2019. The following semester, I continued my education at San Jacinto Community College. I proceeded to obtain further education from Sam Houston State University. In 2021, I received an Associates in Social and Behavioral Health sciences. In 2023, I graduated with a Bachelor's of Sciences in Criminal Justice and a minor in Forensic Sciences.
The subjects that are my main focus is Math, Science, Reading, ELA, Writing, History, Social Studies, Paralegal Studies, and criminal justice specific classes, either High School or undergraduate college level.
My favorite subject to tutor is math! Why you may ask, there are so many tricks and useful techniques for YOU to understand math.
My teaching philosophy is to understand my students. Every student comes from a different background, has different needs, and struggles in different areas. My philosophy is whatever works for the student, works for me. I enjoy throwing in games, brain teasers, and activities into the lessons, to keep things fun. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, traveling, and playing card games.
