Hi, im Dr. Andrew Wakeling, an Internal Medicine Resident at Case Western Reserve University. I obtained my Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine at Virginia Tech. I also hold a Masters degree in Bioethics and the Medical Humanities from Case Western Reserve University and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors degree from West Virginia University in Biology with an emphasis in Genomic Biology. While there I minored in Philosophy.
I have presented research posters at multiple research symposiums on topics ranging from genomic biology to public health. I have published a study on Diabetes in the Nepali-Bhutanese Population. I have worked in genomic wet labs at WVU to characterize the genomic pathway for FGF21 to identify novel targets for drug development with the goal of treating metabolic disease. I also worked in genomic toxicology to study the genomic toxicity of round up and 4-MCHM, a coal frothing agent that was spilled in the Elk river in West Virginia. I have completed a summer internship at the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute to identify inflammatory cytokines that could indicate tumorigenesis in patients with COPD.
I was a Biology tutor for Cell biology, Physiology, and Molecular biology at WVU. I was a graduate teaching assistant for an introductory Ethics course during my masters degree. In my role as a resident I help teach medical students from Case Western, NEOMED, and students from other medical schools completing away rotations at our program.
I specialize in tutoring cellular biology, physiology, molecular biology, anatomy, pathophysiology, medical ethics, ethics, the principles of ethics, and can tutor in some general philosophy courses. I have a strong background in academic writing and can edit essays. I can assist with writing personal statements for graduate school.
(I am admittedly weak on plant biology now.)
