Certified Tutor

I am a graduate of The University of Oklahoma (MPA) and the University of Virginia where I studied Spanish with a dual concentration in Military Science. I served in the Army for seven years and left as a Military Intelligence Captain. I have lived and traveled abroad (20+ countries) and have learned to appreciate all cultures. When I became a civilian I co-founded a community education group for homeschoolers K-12. Our focus included building a strong foundation while lighting the love of learning and fanning the flames of curiosity. I believe the most well-rounded person is one who never stops learning and stays open to new ideas. I have taught ESL native Chinese speakers as well as Spanish speakers seeking to improve their English. Teaching literacy and reading comprehension are my favorite topics as they are the gateway to the path of confident learning.
Education is a gift, that is to be unwrapped daily, with intention and appreciation. Taking positive steps to both learn and apply new information is fundamental to our individual and collective progress. Without education there is no vision and without vision - there is no hope. In my spare time, I love to read, travel and play pickleball.
