I received my Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies: Health and Wellness from Utah State University. I received my Master's degree in Education-Special Education from Utah State University. I have been teaching all age groups for the past 16 years. I substituted in a rural town in Utah for 3 years teaching all grades and ages, general and neurodivegent. I worked as a paraeducator for 2 years in a rural Utah junior high and high school Behavior Classroom and loved it. I received my teaching license in Utah. In Utah I taught 7th and 8th grade students with mild/moderate disabilities as well as co-teaching a functional skills classroom with students with more profound disabilities. I have taught English language arts, math, social studies, and biology/science. I taught students with mild/moderate disabilities and some behavior problems in Arizona for one year. I came back to Utah and created, modified, and presented professional development for special education and general education teachers under the direction of the Utah State Board of Education. At the end of that contract I taught at a charter school that served children in K-9th grades. I taught and co-taught math, English language arts and science to 7th, 8th, and 9th graders. I then was assigned the K-9 Functional Skills Classroom where I had students with various disabilities and some with extreme behavior issues. I LOVE teaching because I am able to learn from the students and co-workers. My favorite subject to teach is math but they are all fun as long as I am learning as well. I enjoy helping students succeed and learn to be a contributing part of society using their strengths and coping strategies. I feel that education, if done in a consistent and formative way, is very pertinent to all ages and all people. I have tutored students and have tracked their success after leaving me and have found them to be consistently successful because they learned to love learning.
