Certified Tutor

My passion for helping others learn stems from the unique satisfaction that comes from the epiphany of learning. In addition to tutoring students in the finance field, I own and operate an independent financial planning firm.

After college, I joined the financial services industry, eventually getting my Series licenses, Certified Financial Planner designation, and insurance licenses. I've passed all of my licensing and certification tests in the financial services field on the first attempt, including the CFP. This is thanks to my mastery of financial concepts and understanding of test-taking logic and strategy.

When you work with me, I will show you the best practices, strategies, and techniques that allowed me to pass the CFP in UNDER SIX MONTHS with a 90% blended score on my only full practice exam. Most candidates spend at least a year on their first attempt! I know which methods work and which are a waste of precious effort!

Working with me, you will have an expert partner to help encourage, teach, guide, collaborate, and hold you accountable for your goals!

Over my academic and professional career, I've had the chance to help peers, colleagues, and students across various subjects, including English writing, SIE, Series 6/7/63/65/66 licensing, and the Certified Financial Planner designation. I also teach literature, finance, and philosophy.

My teaching philosophy emphasizes understanding the subject's conceptual "big picture." Understanding the concepts provides an excellent framework for filling in the specific details and supporting memory retention over time. My goal is to prioritize authentic learning, enabling my students to pass their tests and, more importantly, grow as professionals.

Hobbies

Some things I love outside of finance are cooking (and eating, of course). I like to experiment with new recipes and techniques to make unique dishes. My favorite way to "kill time" is by playing video games. I've been a gamer my entire life, playing everything from FPSs to RPGs to MOBAs. My favorite game recently has been Baldur's Gate 3. As an English major, I love reading and writing in my spare time. I have been fascinated with stationery since I was a child, and I have a collection of fountain pens that I love to write with. My favorite fiction genres to read are fantasy, classics, and 19th-century British fiction. Regarding non-fiction, some of my favorites are anything by Robert Greene and occult philosophy. Some other hobbies and skills I've worked on over the years include electronic music, website design, entrepreneurship, chess, and other board games.
